Students at our school are crazy about programming and robotics. Through the Robotics program, students learn about basic coding and engineering, and develop problem solving abilities, valuable social skills, and life skills like patience and perseverance. We have had scores of students ask to join our extracurricular group, and some have repeatedly begged for a chance to build and program. They are willing to give hours of their free time to foster ingenuity and improve STEM skills. Our students have the desire and the drive; the only thing holding them back is a lack of materials. Kids in our community deserve a chance to thrive and excel in science and engineering and shouldn't be held back because of our lack of resources. The Lego WeDo 2.0 Robotics sets have all the components for building a variety of robots, as well as the software and curriculum to teach students the basics of coding, engineering, and problem solving. The building materials and software will also support them as they find creative solutions for problems and explore endless possibilities of function and design. Two students can use one set at a time, so adding 6 sets will give 12 more students the opportunity to be in Robotics.
