  • Reading Is The Key To Success

    Funded Mar 1, 2024

I am writing to express my heartfelt gratitude for the introduction of phonics materials into our curriculum and to share with you the remarkable impact they have had on student learning in our classroom.

Since the implementation of these materials, I have observed a significant improvement in students' literacy skills and overall engagement with reading and writing activities. Here are some key points highlighting the positive effects:

Increased Phonemic Awareness: Phonics materials have provided students with structured opportunities to develop their phonemic awareness, enabling them to recognize and manipulate individual sounds in words more effectively. As a result, students have become more confident in their decoding skills, which has had a direct impact on their reading fluency.

Improved Word Recognition: By learning phonics principles, students have gained the ability to decode unfamiliar words independently. This newfound skill has empowered them to tackle more complex texts with greater ease, fostering a sense of accomplishment and boosting their motivation to read.

Enhanced Spelling Proficiency: The systematic approach to teaching phonics has also translated into improved spelling abilities among students. They have become more adept at applying phonetic rules and patterns to spell words accurately, leading to greater proficiency in written expression.

Greater Reading Comprehension: Through the mastery of phonics skills, students have developed a deeper understanding of the relationship between letters, sounds, and meaning in text. This comprehension has extended beyond individual words to encompass entire passages, allowing students to extract meaning more effectively from the texts they encounter.

Increased Confidence and Motivation: Perhaps most importantly, the success that students have experienced with phonics materials has had a profound impact on their confidence and motivation as learners. Many students who previously struggled with reading and writing now approach these tasks with enthusiasm and determination, knowing that they possess the skills necessary to succeed.

Overall, the introduction of phonics materials has been a transformative addition to our classroom instruction, yielding tangible improvements in student learning outcomes. I am deeply grateful for the support and resources provided to make this possible and look forward to furthering our students' literacy development through continued integration of phonics instruction.

Thank you once again for your commitment to enhancing educational opportunities for our students.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Monica Jones

  • Virtual Learning 2020

    Funded Dec 1, 2020

This year has been one of the biggest challenges in my teaching careers. This year I taught virtually two grades all year. The donations have enabled me teach my students successfully. The computer monitor and the other items made it easier to teach my lessons and monitor my class at the same time. My students were able to enjoy class and pick up materials that were printed. This is was a challenge but showed me my strength and my passion for what I do everyday. I appreciate all the donations and I can't wait to go back and teach in person!!”

    With gratitude,

  • Super Learners Have Super Powers!

    Funded Nov 3, 2017

My class has grown so much from the materials we were given. They love our reading cart and love how they can go and book shop for their reading level. They are so excited to read and move up reading levels. I have students that have moved six levels already from the Fall.

They also enjoy making words out of the twisting letter blocks and write the words they find on a white board. They like to challenge each other on who can make the most words. Then they go through their list to find out they have created some words that don't make sense. So its really fun for them to read their list aloud to friends. I love that my students can be exposed to many ways o enhance their reading skills because they don't have excess to materials at home. My students love book and look forward to coming to school to read. I make sure every month I get new books for the class to read. Thank you so much for making our dream come true and helping us become Super Readers.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Monica Jones

My students love to read books. If my students have leveled books they will be able to read on their level independently. They will be able to choose from a variety of books. I want my students to enjoy reading at school and at home. The Super Learners would love to have a comfortable place to read their books in the library. Having a comfortable spot to read is important to maintain focus. I want to create a nice cozy area where they can go to everyday to read, and the bean bag chairs will help me do so. The early literacy items will help develop important skills to help my students become readers. Many of my students are below level and these will help me teach them their letter/sound recognition and having fun with making words. I want to create a fun and intellectual learning environment for my Super Learners.
