I do small group, pull-out instruction and interventions for students with special needs. I teach reading, writing, and math to students from Kindergarten thru Second grade who have been identified as having a learning disability and/or behavioral concerns. Many of these students also have sensory needs. My students want to learn and succeed and they all work very hard each day despite the gaps in their skills and achievement. My school district has a high poverty rate and many general education students in my building struggle with getting the bare necessities. However, my group of students struggle in so many other ways and bring so many needs with them to the classroom. Each day can bring new challenges.
