Cold Weather Essentials
Funded Nov 18, 2023Thanks so much for your generous donation of gloves, hats, lotions and chapsticks to take care of our students through the winter. Students were truly appreciative when receiving these items and loved picking the color of their hats and gloves.
The excess items have been stored and are distributed as necessary. It's so nice having these items on hand to provide when students need them. With your help we are creating a school environment where kids feel comfortable asking when they need something, and we are able to provide it.”

Funded Dec 31, 2022Thank you so much for your generous donation of sanitary and hygiene items. Our gym teacher has been teaching health and wellness topics with our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders and these items have been distributed to students as a supplement to those lessons.
We have also been able to create a care closet where students can go to get these hygiene and sanitary items as necessary.
Making these items available to students has helped normalize these tough topics and has provided an embarrassment-free place for those who are in need.”

So Fresh and So Clean!
Funded Apr 8, 2022Thank you so much for your generous donation of hygiene products. With your help we were able to make kits to distribute to our 4th and 5th grade students and teachers. These products went hand in hand with our classroom health lessons and saved our teachers from reaching into their own pockets to provide these items.
We've decided to continue making these kits every year as we feel it helped students who might otherwise be too embarrassed, to have access to what they need. Thanks again for making our students journey into puberty a little easier.”

Funded May 22, 2021My students have gotten so much use out of the toolkits I've been able to make for them. Firstly, they love having new supplies that are colorful and- best of all, just for them.
With the folders that were purchased I was able to create a writing reference guide- specific to each student's needs. Some include a list of sight words, phonics charts that help kids sound out tricky words, and color printed thematic word lists that correspond to the piece of writing they're working on.
With the photo cases I was able to create close reading kits. Close reading is a strategy where students reread a text multiple times for better understanding. I was able to provide highlighters, post-its, and reading strips to help students read line by line.
The best thing about these kits is that I'm able to provide differentiated tools for kids based on their needs. I have materials to print and laminate charts that help them read and write independently, tools to help kids with spacing words and proper pencil grip-for students who need it.
Right now I have a group of students learning about space and they are so interested. They are reading, researching, and becoming independent learners :)
Thank you so much for your support.”

Journals for Kids
Funded Feb 8, 2020Thank you so much so funding our beautiful journals. The point of this project was to grow my students' writing skills while allowing them the opportunity to express themselves and ask questions of me in a private way.
The kids were so excited to start. The students and I were able to journal together. They answered thought-provoking questions and I responded to their thoughts. This was an excellent opportunity to continue conversations outside of the classroom. I will definitely do this again with future students.”

Listen Up! Listening Center
Funded Oct 16, 2019Thank you so much for supporting my classroom. Often while working with the ENL group, students will miss out on the class read aloud. Thanks to my new listening centers, students can now catch up and listen to the story on the computer while I work with another group of students.
Listening to books on the computer has created a new interest in reading for my students. Now the listening center is a reward in some of my classrooms. Students can choose a book (often it's a book of jokes :) and listen to it together. Thanks to this technology my students are more engaged in reading!”

Help English Language Learners Become Financially Literate
Funded Sep 27, 2019Thank you so much for your contribution to my classroom!
With the materials you helped provide we have been able to open our class store.
Students earn class cash through good behavior, participation and classwork. Then they can use that cash to buy small rewards like pencils, pencil cases, crayons, colored pencils, scissors, or books.
Students also spend time working at the store where they sell rewards, creating prices, accounting for items, and tallying cash spent. The display menus, clipboards, dry erase boards and markers are all helping us do the math.
This has been such a rewarding experience for my students and we thank you so much!”

Funded Sep 19, 2018Thank you so much for your donation to our classroom. The students were so excited to receive these new games and activities. Students who are learning English as a New Language (ENL) struggle in their classroom every day. They work so hard in reading, writing, and math to understand the new concepts and complete the tasks.
These games help make learning fun! Learning prepositions is more interesting when they can use dry erase markers to fill in the blanks, writing is more enjoyable with colorful sequence cards to help organize what they want to say, and talking to their partner is meaningful when they can quiz each other on listening comprehension.
One of the best things about teaching ENL students is that you can see them grow so quickly. So thank you for making learning a little more fun!”

Guided Reading Books
Funded Dec 15, 2016My students have really enjoyed reading their new books, especially the set about space. In the classroom we use these books in guided reading. During this type of instruction I pre-teach new vocabulary and concepts they will find in the books, we talk about their prior knowledge of the subject, and then students read independently as I confer with them to help them through any tough parts. Afterward we talk about what we've learned.
Some students also need support in more basic skills like sight words. Sight words as hard to sound out so students need to memorize them. The sight word puzzles help kids practice these tricky words.
Thank you for supporting these students and helping them become more interested in reading!”
