Every year, my 11th grade students complete a literature circle project, during which they read, analyze, and give a presentation a novel that they have read with a small group of their peers. It has been somewhat difficult in the past to find engaging, contemporary works for students to choose from, that speak to their very diverse backgrounds and experiences. Often the most popular titles at the school library are in short supply and most students lack the resources to obtain copies on their own. This DonorsChoose.org project will help me to provide a more authentic and meaningful learning experience for my students within the context of this project.
