  • New Classroom...New Organization System!

    Funded Oct 26, 2022

I wanted to take a moment to thank all of you that donated to our classroom project. Although I know the materials requested aren't your typical donors choose requests, they are so important to us as teachers. We are providing our students with materials and organizing our preschool curriculum. Thanks to your donations we have put in place a system that makes materials needed for student learning readily available. We are so grateful for the help as we both have just started this venture into a new style of teaching and a different student population. We appreciate the opportunity to provide these resources to our students more than you could imagine!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Leonard

  • Expanding Our Imagination!

    Funded Dec 10, 2017

Thank you so much for you generous donations. My students have had so much fun playing with the items; from first helping to open the delivery boxes and slowly unveiling its contents, to continuing to play with the items each day. My students love to play with the dolls and the coordinating clothing! We have been learning to take turns and request a turn by each student putting on a brick while building tall towers with the cardboard blocks. We are so grateful for your generosity. Thanks again!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Leonard

  • Rolling Our Way To Success!

    Funded Oct 4, 2017

I would like to extend my sincere gratitude for your generous donation. Through your donation several classrooms in the Intensive Learning Program have been able to purchase a pressure roller.

This pressure roller has become a valuable tool among the 9 ASD classrooms. It has enabled students to calm their bodies through appropriate sensory stimulation thereby controlling behavior issue, increasing time on task, and enhancing learning. It has had the added and unanticipated benefit of teaching turn taking skills, as well as requesting skills when a student feel the need for pressure.

Thank you again from the entire ILP program!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Leonard

In the 10 years I have worked in my school the number of classrooms for children on the autism spectrum has tripled! The item I am requesting will be shared among these nine classrooms and will change the future for so many of these children. Each year I have students that engage in disruptive behaviors (sometimes dangerous) in order to attain the sensory input they need. They will climb, jump off furniture, roll on the floor, crawl in small places, or simply be unable to stay in a chair. Their bodies need something we can not provide. This rolling machine will allow these sensory seeking students to gain the input their bodies need in a safe way; improving their focus and attention. When their body's needs are met they can focus on communication and making friends!
