  • Shop Maintenance at the M. Scene Shop

    Funded Oct 11, 2024

As always, we are so very grateful for the support you show the Scene Shop at Maumelle High School. I want the experiences that my students get here to mirror those of the professional world as closely as possible. With these tools and replacement t blades we just might achieve that. Thanks again.”

  • Help Us Exceed the Willing Suspension of Disbelief

    Funded Aug 29, 2024

Thanks to your amazing generosity, the beat goes on. Cordless drills are the work horses of my scene shop. We build almost nothing with nails or staples. Now, thanks to you, we have enough to keep five more hands engaged and busy. And special thanks to any former student who donated.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. B.

  • Giant, Man-Eating Plant to Menace Local Performance Space!

    Funded Aug 12, 2021

I am so humbled by your support. This round of funding has finished and in the bag. We are so grateful for your generosity. Thank you so much for looking out for my kids. We will put these items to frequent use in the months ahead and pics will be posted!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. B.

  • The Scene Shop at MHS Fine Arts

    Funded Oct 9, 2017

There is nothing worse than needing a tool and not being able to get your hands on one. My students are loyal, engaged, and enthusiastic about the work, and the tools you provided allowed us to continue to achieve "next level" work. Addams Family the Musical included a massive platform system, with switchback step units with a landing, and a tall escape stair from the back. Alice's Adventures in Wonderland included a Disney quality float with 3d mushrooms and an "actor animated" Caterpillar tail on it. We would not have been able to accomplish these things, and many more, without your support.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. B.

I teach Stagecraft to 10th through 12th grade, largely as a vocational class. Since I have spent a number of years as a stagehand and engineer, I know what is required to attain a career in this field. My students spend the first month and half or so becoming very credible basic stage carpenters, which they love, since it gets them on their feet and using their hands.
