  • Collaboration Is Key!

    Funded Oct 1, 2021

Thank you so much! These items will help with our focus on collaboration! I appreciate your support in this endeavor! Our students definitely deserve the best, and I couldn't give them that without your help. I believe that with these resources, our 21-22 school year will be amazing.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Roix

  • The "Engage Me" Library

    Funded Feb 10, 2019

I now have a classroom that is full of a diverse set of books. Students see themselves represented in the books that I have available. I have students who have asked if they can keep the books that they checked out, and I do not have the heart to say no! It is wonderful that they have become attached to books and that they have begun to see themselves as readers! We also chose one of the books to do a read aloud with. Some students who have never read are reading, asking questions, thinking about the content of the book. Thank you so much!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Roix

  • The 57 Bus: Read, Think, Maybe Change Your Mind

    Funded Mar 27, 2019

I am overwhelmed by your generosity! So many of you came together to make this book happen for my students, and I am grateful. I was not expecting such a quick turnaround, and am thrilled with the possibility of teaching this book starting this year!

My group of students this year is one that will greatly benefit from reading this text as they explore community activism this coming quarter. Thank you so much again!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Roix

The books I chose for my library will be checked out by my 9th grade students and read during silent sustained reading time every day. I chose the books specifically with certain students in mind, and believe I have put together a collection that reflects the diversity of my students. I have included many graphic novels and fantasy novels, as well as some that deal with current, relative social issues. I believe this thoughtfully chosen library will engage some of my students in reading as they've never been engaged before--they will become readers! The benefits of being a reader are endless, but they start with an increased confidence and success in all classes in high school. I love my students and only want the best for them. This book collection is a token of that love.
