Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (S.T.E.M.) is one of the most exciting movements in education. With this in mind, 3D Printing is one of the most tangible ways for students to experience the act of both design and creation. With a booming tech industry, at-risk students need to have a passion for S.T.E.M. kindled and nurtured. In this after school club, students will use the library's computers to learn how to use CAD (computer assisted design) software and print their creations on the proposed 3D printer. Finally, learners will take their projects home. Can you think of a more student-centered, S.T.E.M. fueled activity? I am asking for a 3D Printer, which will meet the club in the middle. The school library will fund the printing filament which will need to be replaced as students print projects. In addition, the library will spend many hundreds of additional dollars on paint, chemicals, and tools. I ran a similar club on a previous campus and it was the pride of the school. There, I purchased this excellent 3D printer which is perfectly suited to this situation. At my current school, I have students ask me on a daily basis, "When will 3D printing club begin?!" The students are so excited for this experience. Thank you for your consideration!
