  • Clean and Ready

    Funded Aug 3, 2023

Thanks to you we are going to have a nice clean work environment this school year. Our custodial staff does everything they can to keep us clean, but they can't do it all. These supplies will help us keep a dust free environment and help us to be able to vacuum after messy projects or from time to time to get the hidden dirt. The filters will also help keep the germs we can't see away! In order to learn we have to be at school and to keep everyone healthy is a big job when I have 25-30 students coming in and out each day.

Thank you for helping us stay clean and healthy!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Walker

  • Using Art to Make Us Smart

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

What fun we had with our project "Using Art to Make Us Smart"! While we haven't had a chance to use all the items just yet, I would love to tell you about my favorite project so far!

Right before Christmas break, as students were starting to lose interest in writing, we used the wooden ornaments to paint a snowman. We then used the snowman each student painted as a character in their writing. This helped students to visualize their characters and to bring them to life in their writing pieces. They then tied a bow on them and took the ornament and writing home as a Christmas present for someone special!

    Thank you for helping students!”

    Mrs. Walker

  • Let's Go for a Lego Club

    Funded Jan 24, 2022

Thank you for your help in funding the beginning of our Lego club! While we won't start our club until this fall, we have started to plan, explore, and maybe try our hand at a few Lego projects ourselves.

These projects are going to help students to be creative and critical thinkers which will help them both in the classroom, but also for years to come.

Thank you for playing a part in making students reach for their biggest potential. They will have so much to offer when Lego Club officially begins!”

  • We Can Wiggle and Learn

    Funded Feb 10, 2022

This year I have a crew that just loves to wiggle and I honestly felt a little guilty asking them to sit for longer periods of time so I started this project to allow them a chance to have a seat that was more conducive to being a kid!

I gave students the option to use a regular chair or to switch to one from this project. Nobody wanted to stay in a regular chair! They absolutely love their new seats and I have seen the amount of focus around the room grow in just the few weeks we have had them available. It is amazing to see kids be able to wiggle and move while learning!! Thank you for supporting our kids!”

  • Art, Camera, Action

    Funded Jan 5, 2022

I cannot wait for the Amazon packages to arrive soon! I know students will be beyond thrilled to have new resources for indoor recess. Actually, as I write this message, students are currently having a 20 minute recess indoors due to cold weather. Students will be encouraged to use these materials to have a more creative outlet on cold and rainy days.

Students will also be encouraged to care for these materials in a way that will ensure they last all school year.

I know they will be excited to see them come!”

  • Using Art and Creativity in Literacy

    Funded Nov 30, 2021

Students were excited to see the decorations and new items as we walked back in from Christmas break. I could see their excitement growing, literally before my eyes.

I truly believe when offered an environment that is hands on and looks inviting, students just tend to have a bit more internal motivation to do well. I hope these materials continue to help students to be motivated to learn, think creatively, and apply themselves in ways that they never even knew was possible.

I am always amazed at how generous our community can be!”

  • Blasting Off Into Learning

    Funded Sep 23, 2021

These supplies have been fabulous. Students have really been able to see space come to life! The hallway was decorated with fabulous items from your donations! Students in 3rd grade along with 2nd grade were amazed when they came to school.

I didn't even realize how much the 2nd graders would notice, but I hope it gave them some excitement about next school year and all the things they will learn in 3rd grade. Isn't it funny how those unexpected things work out and just make something all that much better! In fact, it was such a success for motivation, that I started a new project to decorate for our next two units: immigration and the ocean!

Thank you again for every dollar donated!!”

  • Express Yourself- Art and Literacy Can Take You Anywhere

    Funded Aug 12, 2021

Thank you. You all are amazing supporters both through Donor's Choose but also in all areas of our classroom and our school.

Students are always amazed at how much friends, family, and strangers are all supportive of them and their education. I think it really makes a difference in their motivation when they know they have such a big support system.

As we received packages during the school day, students were able to see what all was given to them and we were able to talk about the exciting ways we will sue those products in our learning.

    You are appreciated!!”

  • Back to School!

    Funded Aug 12, 2021

Thank you for your very generous donation to the Back To School project! This project gave our class supplies we needed to be able to provide school supplies for students as they returned to school this week. It also provided a few materials to be used on indoor recess days. The third and fourth days of school were already rainy so we have put these items to use already. I know students appreciated the activities provided.

Our class appreciates the help from each one of you. We look forward to an amazing year.”

  • Room on the Rug for All of Us!

    Funded Jul 18, 2021

We learned this week that we will not be able to use carpets and rugs in our classroom as of now. I am very hopeful that we will be able to use them in the near future and will have this beautiful rug stored until we are able to do so.

My heart is broken over this carpet because it really symbolizes how much will be different this school year while living in the middle of a Covid Hot Spot. I understand and appreciate the efforts schools are taking to keep students safe, I just hope that we are able to return to a few pieces of normal soon and get this virus under control!

I appreciate you all donating and I am very hopeful to show pictures of students on this bright and colorful carpet very soon!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Walker

As I strive to create a print-rich environment within the classroom, we need books to help students achieve their goals in reading, writing, science, social-emotional, and so many more skills! Reading helps us all escape from the wild and ever-changing world where we are currently living. We will need a lot of books this year to help all students have access to individual reading materials, as they may not be able to share materials this school year. Thank you for helping me reach my goal for all students to have access to books within the classroom.
