  • Color Printer for Special Education Classroom

    Funded Oct 25, 2024

Thank you for supporting our class project. The new color printer has allowed me to make a variety of visuals for my students. I have been able to create individualized visuals for specific students as well as charts and learning tools for whole class activities. I am also planning on making some learning games and center activities. Because I have been able to print in color the students are more engaged with and excited by the visuals.

I have been able to use the printer to make a number of individualized incentive charts for students to use throughout their day. I am excited to be able to make more learning centers and games for our classroom to help with reteaching and retaining skills.”

  • Special Education Classroom Needs Osmo Learning System

    Funded Dec 4, 2022

The Osmo learning kit and tablet have been a wonderful addition to my classroom. I have been using it as a way to reinforce my teaching of the alphabet. In addition, some of the games have wonderful problem solving and 1 and 2 step directions for students to follow. These are all skills I have students working on.

Although all of my students have been excited to use this new technology, I have 3 students that are especially excited about it. In addition, to using it during center time, they will regularly ask to use it during free choice. Which has given them extra practice and reinforcement with learning their letters. They love that the Osmo system is interactive, allowing them to see what they make on the screen. I am planning on buying additional learning kits to allow students to practice additional skills.

Thank you again for your donation. This has been an amazing addition to my classroom. In the short time that I have had the materials, I have already seen it benefit my students.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Cheeseman

  • Flexible Seating

    Funded Nov 2, 2017

Thank you for helping to fund our flexible seating project. The students were so excited when I told them the project was funded. As each new box arrived their eyes lit up and they have all been begging to try each of the seating options.

The first thing to arrive was the new library seating. The red foam seats and bean bags have been a huge hit in the classroom. Students are now able to relax and enjoy the library during independent reading. With the lap desk they are also able to use the library as a quiet place to complete their work.

The bouncy bands were the second thing to arrive. They have also been a big hit. I had 3 students that had used them in previous classrooms and asked me right away if they could have one. I have also had parents asking me where to get one for their child at home because the kids have been telling their parents about them. I have noticed more students sitting still and working because they are able to kick or bounce their feet on the bands.

The wiggle seats were the last thing to arrive and have had the biggest impact on our class. Many of the students asked to use them right away. I have been rotating them around to find the students that will benefit the most from having one. I am looking into purchasing more for the class.

I am looking at additional types of alternative seating to add to my classroom to allow every student to have a place they can concentrate and do their best. I am truly grateful for your help in allowing me to achieve this goal.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Cheeseman

I think it is important to let students sit where they are most comfortable when learning and completing work. It can be hard for students to sit still and focus during class time. I would love for my students to have the ability to use balance discs and ball seats to help them focus when they are working at their desks. This will also help keep students from distracting their classmates. Comfortable seating options, including bean bag chairs and playroom chairs, will allow them to be more comfortable and enjoy reading in our class library. All of these things will allow my students to work to their highest potential.
