Games Build Math Skills!
Funded Mar 1, 2024Thank you again for our supplies. The crayons arrived just in time for a special day. We had a field trip to our Capitol Theatre, when we came back we had a special dinosaur project to work on. I was able to give them new crayons, they were so excited! They actually cheered. Our sets from the beginning of the year were broken, tattered, and missing a lot of colors. They are being very careful with their new set because they are excited to have them.
The cards and dice have been a great addition to our math work shop. Thanks to your generosity we have had enough supplies to play our dice and card games in class, and send supplies to practice at home. Families have shared that they love having the dice and cards to practice math facts in a fun way. I have seen improvement in the automaticity of their facts.
Thank you again for helping us to achieve this goal. We are beyond grateful.”

Help Us Express Our Creativity!
Funded May 20, 2022When my students saw the supplies they were very excited and shouted out "Yay!" They couldn't believe that all of these new and cool items had been donated to us. They were very grateful.
When PE was cancelled, which is their favorite, I pulled out our new supplies. They had the best time creating buildings with the Magnatiles, and all types of creations with the Legos. They also had fun calling out shape names as they built with the tangrams.
It was wonderful to see all students working together, having fun, and expressing their creativity. We appreciate your support and want you to know this truly made our year. Thank you so much!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Baumgardner
This classroom project was brought to life by Center for Disaster Philanthropy and 3 other donors.Recognizing Place Value Through Color!
Funded Sep 27, 2017Thank you so much for your donation to our class project! My students were so excited when they saw the box arrive, they kept asking what was inside. When we were ready to benefit from this new classroom tool we opened the box and their excitement was evident in our class picture.
The place value kits allowed my students to have a hands on opportunity to see how place value increases as we change the amount. Before my students were trying to draw pictures representing the place value blocks, which is very abstract. We now are able to move the 1s, 10s and 100s to see how numbers work.
I know that as we continue to practice with our kits this will help all of my learners to understand place value. It is still early on in the school year, so we will use them continually in our math workshop and core math lesson. Thank you again for supporting us and giving us this amazing opportunity to grow and learn as mathematicians.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Baumgardner
