Phonics in First
Funded Sep 20, 2023Thank you so much for your support. My students were so excited to have colorful hands on activities to do. The Phonics Word Match has been a great addition to our short vowel groups. Our class has really enjoyed playing matching games with them. The word cards have a glittery textured effect on the dots which encouraged students to tap and isolate the sounds. They really enjoyed matching the pictures to the words and collecting as many picture cards as they could.
Students had so much fun practicing their reading skills searching for lost words with the Lakeshore Find and Write Word Activity Center. They were engaged and on task working together to find different word families. They encouraged each other to sound out the words when they noticed they had made mistakes.”

Funded May 17, 2022Thank you so much for making this project possible. My students were so excited to use our new materials that were purchased on TPT.
They really enjoyed their new phonological games that helped them practice our weekly focus. They have been able to play with different friends and develop their turn taking skills. Our class has applied the skills they have learned during our grammar block through differentiated worksheets.
We have been developing our reading comprehension with digital downloads in small groups. Students read a short story and practice highlighting evidence to support their answers. My students are so excited to show what they learned using technology through the digital downloads.”

Funded Jan 25, 2020Thank you so much for providing me with the opportunity to grow as an educator. I wanted to give you an update on my project so far. I began the process of becoming certified, but at this time it is on pause because of the pandemic. Prior to the pandemic I was able to collect data on my students' current skills in reading, writing, and math. The students and I were working on developing their writing and problem solving skills with new strategies learned from trainings I attended and books I read. Our goal was to learn to problem solve and explain our thinking. We moved to distance learning and continued to build on that. Using online resources such as Nearpod, Seesaw, and Zoom my students continued to grow academically.
Prior to the pandemic I had begun working with my peers on a weekly basis to help improve my understanding of my students' data. We were also meeting to study for our exam on early childhood development. We had been working on our written components and were proof reading each other's work. This provided the opportunity to grow as a teacher with guidance and support from my peers. Due to the pandemic we were no longer able to meet in person, but continued studied together via Zoom. I am still working on becoming certified, but due to the pandemic it is on hold. Once we continue with in person instruction, I look forward to updating you with the completion of this project.”

Funded Dec 14, 2017Thank you for supporting our class this year. We have put our materials to good use!
We use the dry-erase markers every day to practice the spelling of high-frequency words. We also write sentences with our frequency words.
I used the cardstock and dice you kindly donated to create games that reinforce the weekly spelling patterns, grammar skills, and parts of speech. We use these games almost daily during our Universal Access Time.
The pencils we received are also helping students with letter formation. Students are also writing journals to describe their opinions on various topics.
Once again, thank you for your help!”
