Nonfiction Articles for Kindergarteners!

Thank you so much for getting Scholastic Magazines for my Kindergarteners. They absolutely loved it due to the fact that it was nonfiction. Young children love to learn about the world around them and the nonfiction topics (weather, hibernation, and their bodies, etc.) allowed them to explore various topics. The lessons helped them develop class discussion, adding to the topic, and academic language/vocabulary. Vocabulary is super important for kids because they are still developing their experiences, vocabulary and knowledge.

Reading in our virtual classroom was whole group but I was able to do break-out groups to further discuss topics in small groups since I had a paraprofessional. I also gave them the opportunity to read it at home because we had the virtual license.

The parents provided feedback that they loved how this resource was very helpful for them because they could reread with the child and continue to discuss this at home with them. Again, thank you for thinking about Bronx kids!”
