Snacks and Necessities
Funded Aug 19, 2021My kindergarteners started school this week. Our package of goodies arrived on Tuesday. This was just in time for our daily snack. Snack time is so important for our kids. They come from low income homes and rely on us to provide them with breakfast and lunch. We also do daily snacks. Often this comes out of my own pocket.
Your support helps lessen the burden on me to provide the snack as well as gives my students fun choices such as goldfish crackers and applesauce to get through the afternoon with a full tummy.
We also received play doh in our package. My students come in before school and socialize with each other. They enjoy making fun creations and sharing them with each other. We will also use it in conjunction with the magnetic letters to learn our letters and sounds.”

Funded May 4, 2021I can't begin to describe to you the excitement on my students faces when I brought them their books!
I wrote this grant at the end of last school year to give my students reading materials over the summer. Even though it didn't arrive in time, I am still able to give them the gift of a great book this school year thanks to your donations. I have been visiting their new classrooms as time allows to pass them out. Each time I show up they are so surprised to receive a new book.
I also received Pete the Cat books that I will be able to give my kindergarteners this October. I will share the story as a read aloud then give them their very own copies as a surprise. Thank you so much!”

Funded Jan 28, 2021Because of the pandemic my students were mostly reading books online. Many were not able to get books at home because their families struggle to meet basic needs. Books are considered a luxury when they are worried about paying for groceries and heat. Now that we are back to school, my students are savoring time with our classroom library books. When I told them they were getting books to keep, they were super excited!
Besides reading, we will be planting the seeds that his grant provided for us as well. Every year my students LOVE planting and growing seeds. They can't wait to get their hands in the soil and watch their seeds sprout.
Thank you again!”

Warm Reading Wishes
Funded Nov 9, 2020My goodness! I cannot express to you how excited my students were to receive the items that your generosity helped make possible. They were especially excited for the snacks and the book Deck the Halls, We're Off the Walls! by Dan Gutman. It is from the Weird School series. My class loves these books and to have a copy of one for their very own is special for them. My students don't often get books unless our school can provide them. They are considered a luxury when their families have to worry about food and housing.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart! You are so appreciated!”

Funded Aug 3, 2020Thank you so much for your kindness in sharing snacks with my students! Even though we're Learning at home for now, I was able to drop off bags of snacks and other materials to each of my students before the first day of school. There are enough snacks from this amazing donation for me to drop off items at least 3 more times. Every child was excited to see those bags. Some kids showed off their snacks on our first zoom meeting and told me how they were going to share with brother or sister. Their smiles were glowing. Thank you!!”

A Reading Adventure
Funded Apr 8, 2013I just want to say how very thankful I am for the CD players and new books on CD! My students were so excited when they saw the big box that the items arrived in. When I showed them the pieces 1 by 1 they were laughing and clapping and begging to be the first to listen to the new books. It made me smile to see how excited they were to get these new books! So far the favorites have been Toad and Frog Forever and Sheep in a Jeep. Some students were so excited they brought batteries from home the next day to make sure we had enough batteries for all of the new players. Your support means so much to teachers like me who teach kids who LOVE reading and learning but don't necessarily have access to great books. I hope you will continue to help other teachers and students in the future. Thank you again!”

1 Computer Can Make A Big Impact For a Small Class
Funded Nov 23, 2010Thank you so much for your kind donations! The computer you helped provide for my classroom is a huge hit with my class. I have been able to use it for center activities like viewing educational DVDs that help increase students' phonemic awareness skills as well as to help me with attendance, online grading, and tending to my school website to increase parent contact by submitting photos and news about what is going on in our room. Donor's Choose is a wonderful gift for educators, and I am grateful that you chose my project for your donations. Thank you for making a difference for my little class!”

Seating and CDs for Literacy
Funded May 27, 2010Thank you so much for providing my classroom with CD players, a book on CD and beanbag chairs! When I requested these materials I was a 2nd grade teacher. Now I am teaching kindergarten, but the materials are being used every day. My kids love having comfy places to sit and enjoy reading during free reading time. They are always asking if we can get out the CD players and listen to books on CD. We would not have these if it were not for your generosity. I love being able to have my kids listen to stories on CD because it gives them yet another chance to hear good reading modeled for them. Other teachers keep asking how I got so lucky as to have these great things. I tell them it is through the kindness of donors like you. Your donations helped me have another way of enhancing my teaching. I hope you consider donating to future projects for other schools as well. I know other teachers will appreciate it as much as I do.
