STEAM: Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math. STEAM allows hands-on experiences that are integrated across subject areas and allow children to make real-life connections. My students need these supplies to better their STEAM experience in my classroom. Having engaging, hands-on materials at their fingertips will help develop an exciting environment that promotes tremendous learning oppurtunities!
Using hands-on STEAM activities in my classroom will inspire children to showcase their ability to design, build, and problem-solve.
Building blocks, engineering kits, Legos, and interlocking tinker toys will allow my students to showcase their engineering skills by creating various models of building structures, landmarks, and simple machines.
My students will use hands-on manipulatives to make math concepts come to life! Using pattern blocks, dominoes, and unifix cubes allow all learning styles to improve their mathematical knowledge at their own pace. Having the visual at their fingertips will also improve their ability to reason through any mathematical process. In addition, I want to create opportunities for my tech-savvy students to develop coding skills that are achievable at this age.
The art and office supplies such as scissors, crayons, and paint will allow the students to document their learning experiences in artistic ways that will represent their ideas and creativity. As their teacher, I will be able to create an abundance of STEAM challenges and lessons by having copy paper to print and copy resources for my students.
I have also asked for storybooks that will allow me to make direct literature connections with STEAM challenges and activities such as "Ada Twist, Scientist," "Iggy Peck, Architect," and "The Most Magnificent Thing."
Please help me to enhance my students' learning experience with materials to create engaging STEAM activities.
