  • Voices for Non-Verbal Children

    Funded Feb 28, 2017

Thank you again so much for all of your thoughtful contributions to our project. In such a short time we have already been putting our new printer and materials to great use! We have decorated our classroom with colorful photos of the students, printed our colorful worksheets to help aid students in comprehension, created social stories with colorful pictures to help students with Autism process and understand the surrounding world around them, and we have begun to make meaningful activities that the students can engage in throughout the day.

Your donations have helped our classroom to have constant access to pictures for communication devices, large print pictures for children who need oversized symbols to help learn classroom directives, and we are able to print stories and worksheets in color which makes learning so much more fun! Our new printer has allowed us to utilize color coded reading systems which aid in student understanding of material being taught and how to learn sentence structure.

We are truly overjoyed to have access to these materials. There is no more waiting for weeks on end for a working printer, the long lines and endless minutes spend hoping that something might print out is finally OVER! We are able to use more of that time wisely in our class time engaging and learning with one another rather than making all of our materials from scratch. It is people like you who care enough to make the world a better place for all human beings. We are all so fortunate to have people like you living side by side to help guide those in need every step of the way.

Thank you again for all of your generosity and support. It is more appreciated then you will ever know.

    Sincerely,

    Ms. Bell”

  • Sensory Learning Tools

    Funded Mar 9, 2016

I want to extend my greatest gratitude for supporting our classroom. My students were thrilled to open the packages and see what new materials had been delivered. Now we have more materials that are necessary to help our classroom run smoothly.

Since we received these new items, students have been holding their pencils correctly to write their letters, have been working hard and looking forward to sensory time with scented play dough. Students who are different learning levels now have the opportunity to engage with more appropriate toys based on their current learning level. During our writing period the students have multiple opportunities to communicate by requesting for certain colors, or requesting an eraser when necessary. Our early learners are able to participate in writing by touching or feelings the tactile letters that you have provided for our classroom. Our large gallon of glue will go a long way. We will use this in our classroom for the rest of the school year, and the upcoming years ahead. We are looking forward to setting up a reading center at the old Cd player with some books on tape, to encourage independent reading.

Your donation has truly had a positive impact on our classroom and will continue to do so as time goes on. We are very appreciative for all you have done for us. Thank you again for this support.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Bell

  • Essentials for Teaching Children with Autism

    Funded Nov 12, 2015

Thank you so much for your generous and kind donations. We are so excited to have put our supplies to good use already. Some of our students have used them to help repeat lessons or to check schedules. Some students who are unable to read are learning to match the letters of their name, or match picture to picture as a prerequisite. Other students have boards made to help them express feelings or emotions, while others are learning to sort or categorize different items. Some children who are unable to write can participate in activities by matching picture to picture, or words to pictures. Some students are learning to count and match number to amount, all with the help of some Velcro and laminating paper. These essentials have really improved our ability to stay focused and learn new information. Thank you so much for providing an opportunity to grow and learn for these children as they deserve a chance at an appropriate education as well. You really are amazing people for donating to our cause. We thank you from the very bottom of our hearts.”

  • Helping Children with Autism Learn

    Funded May 31, 2015

Thank you so much for your generous donations to our classroom. We are thankful to be starting off the new school year with much needed supplies for our classroom. So far many of the things that you have allowed our classroom to receive have been important in setting up the classroom for the new year.

The students are already benefiting from the use of the classroom laminator and laminating sheets that will be used to create activities on a daily basis for instructional purposes that can be reused without withering. Some students who have a sensitivity to noise have an opportunity to access headphones to help block out loud sounds throughout the school day. Some other children will greatly appreciate the use of some vibrating sensory chews. Students have begun their learning for the year with plenty of glue sticks. Since most of our students who are non verbal, or have limited verbal abilities use pictures to communicate, have accessible pictures and glue sticks is essential for them to participate in classroom instruction.

Your kindness in participating in the education of special needs children is greatly appreciated. Not only do these students have learning disabilities that they have to tackle on a daily basis, many of these children also struggle from a lack of financial capital in their homes thus lacking the ability to pay for essential and basic school supplies. By donating to this project you will make an everlasting impact on the educational lives of these children. Thank you again for your generosity.”

    Ms. Bell

  • Leaping Into Literacy

    Funded Jan 1, 2014

Thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful donations! We have already received most of our books on CD and we are so excited! You have made such a difference. After lunch time everyday, we have been very energetic and haven't known what we can do to refocus ourselves for learning. WELL NOW WE DO! We have been using our books on audio cd as an alternative way to remain engaged and learning when we are full of energy. The pictures that I have posted, as following a lunch period one of the hardest times for us to remain seated and follow along to a story. All of the students are so intrigued. They have even requested to work for independent time to listen and follow along to the book on cd. It is so amazing to see all of the students so interested in something. It is almost impossible to engage all of my students with special needs and capture all of them in a lesson, but they are all so internally motivated to follow along to books on tape that it is amazing. I see students who are not able to read, trying to follow along and watching where we are and looking at their own books. You have helped to foster learning, reading, and independence in our class. You have also helped to foster socialization by allowing students to share with one another.

We are so thrilled to see where continued use with these materials will take us. We are so lucky to have this wonderful opportunity. Your kindness has reached the heart of many students with significant disabilities and know that your generosity is greatly appreciated and has made an incredible difference. THanks again!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Bell

  • Learning through Reading

    Funded Nov 8, 2013

Thank you so much for your amazing and generous donations to our classroom library! We now have a wonderful set of books, some small and some large with audio componenets to inspire students to read. You have provided an opportunity for my students to take charge of their learning and education by providing the opportunity to read along with a story indepednently. Indepednence is of the utmost importance for my students with special needs.

My students have created thank you cards which are on their way to you! It is difficulty for many of them to write independently or engage in any activities indepednently. I apologize if the letters were not personalized with your individual names as donors, but they were written as indepednently as possible.

I wish that all of you could have been there to see their faces light up with enthusiasm as we received our packages in the mail. Together we worked to bring our lirbary to life and it is such an amazing thing to be a part of and to witness. I can not wait to share pictures with you of all of their independent and group reading with the use of our new materials.

Thank you again for your continued support to our school systems and to further benefit the education of those students from low income neighborhoods, and with special needs. My goal is to provide an education that is meaningful, encouraging, and as independent as possible and with your help we are meeting those needs.

You have been such a wonderful part in creating a classroom enviornment that meets the learning needs of all types of students and from the bottom of my heart I can not thank you enough. Please enjoy this holiday season and we sincerely appreciate all that you have done for us!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Bell

  • Hatching Eggs for Learning

    Funded Apr 28, 2011

Thank you so much for your generous donation. The children of this inner city school now have the opportunity to explore nature in its fullest degree. We have not yet been able to order our eggs but we have gone on a trip to the farm to see baby chicks and ducks. We read books about being on the farm. We have even explored the incubators. My students are children between the ages of 5 and 7. They are typically diagnosed with autism. They attend school in New York. My students are very special in their own way and show characteristics of growth. They are just beginning to understand a sense of community and need to reach out. As a educational leader, I have a will for my students to learn more about the world around them and to be active participants in that society. Please help to fulfill my dream, and that of my students.
