Books, Books, and More Books!

We appreciate your help in building and expanding our class library! We have used these books to learn and explore many different genres and learning objectives. We also use them to listen to read alouds which has quickly become the students favorite part of the day. Funded Oct 16, 2017It has been amazing to be able to provide my students with the math intervention that they need. My students are more excited than ever before to participate in their math stations. The students are able to use the hands-on materials to develop math concepts that they will use throughout their academic lives. Every year I have students that struggle with the concept of regrouping and problem solving. With your help, my students have mastered these concepts this school year! My students are able to use the hands-on regrouping kit and problem solving manipulative to visualize each step in solving rigorous math problems. The science resources have added an extra layer of interest in our science lessons. The students are able to use real science tools and instruments to learn about important topics such as Force & Motion and Electricity. My students and I are very appreciative for your generosity towards helping our classroom become more hands-on!”

Fun Incentives Encourage Major Academic Goals!
Funded Jan 17, 2018My class and I sincerely thank you for making this project become a dream come true! My students have become extremely motivated and focused because they are working towards prizes that they love such as the mini footballs and glittery slime. My class loves slime! We often make our own during Science so this has become one of their favorite rewards. I knew these incentives would help motivate my students, but the pure joy that they receive from digging deep into our overflowing treasure box has put the biggest smiles on their faces. It has created a new joy and happiness in our class. The students have been learning a lot more self control since we received these items. They are able to track their own behavior and often help remind their classmates of the right choices they need to make in order to be able to visit the treasure box. We are truly appreciative of your donations to our treasure box project. Thank you!”

Funded Oct 9, 2017I want to sincerely thank you for your generosity! My students were extremely happy to receive this huge box of books which includes fiction and non-fiction books. Many of my students do not have the literacy resources they need at home to help improve their reading skills. Your donations have put an end to that! These books are in our classroom library. Students check out books each Monday that they get to take home every night and throughout the weekend so that they always have fun and exciting material to read. Many of my students can't wait to finish the books they have checked out just, so they can start on a new book! Your donations have helped my students build their fluency, reading, and comprehension levels. All the students in my class have jumped between one to three reading levels. This not only helps them academically, but it helps build their confidence!”

Technology Leads the Way!
Funded Sep 19, 2017Let me begin with a huge THANK YOU for your generosity! The iPads have been an amazing addition to our classroom. I opened the package with my students and they were beyond excited. I wish you could experience the joy that graced their tiny faces. The students couldn't wait to be able to use the iPads.
We use the iPads on a daily basis to complete district assessments, practice our sight words, read and listen to stories and to play our favorite online math games. The iPads are a lot more kid-friendly and faster than our traditional desktop computers. My students are able to maximize their learning time with the reading and math apps, instead of waiting for a slow connection. The iPads have quickly become the students favorite station during our reading and math rotations. They are also used as a reward for good behavior. Students can choose to have extra time on the iPads when they reach a certain academic or behavioral goal.
Your donations were able to bring a technology update to our class, but also help my students experience the joy of learning.”

Hands-on Is Minds-on
Funded Sep 18, 2017Thank you for your generous donations! My students were super excited when the HUGE box of manipulatives arrived to our class. I opened the box with my students and took out each game and manipulative one by one. I wish you could hear the excitement in our class as they each eyed a game that they proclaimed as their favorite! They couldn't wait to start literacy and math stations so they could get a chance to play all of the fun learning games.
The students quickly become pros at using the manipulatives during our station time. The students love using the phonics and place value puzzles to build words and numbers. It has often been a struggle to get my students to enjoy writing, but with the writing flip books and journals, they actually enjoy writing. They are able to use the manipulatives to help guide their thinking and find interesting topics to write about. The reading comprehension passages and math journals are used as an enrichment tool to help build higher level thinking skills. My students love using the large magnetic letters to practice their weekly spelling words. It has even improved our spelling assessment average over the past two weeks! The entire class would agree that the sight word fishing game with fishing rods is their favorite game! The students are required to pass a sight word assessment as one of their passing standards for the school year. This game has encouraged many of them to practice their words independently so that when they are in this station, they are able to catch more "fish" or sight words. The manipulatives are also teaching my students how to work together as a team in order to reach their academic goals.
We are very grateful to have these materials in our class. Words can't describe the amount of joy it brings to see my students truly enjoying their learning. From my students and I, we sincerely thank you!”
