Clean AIR, More CARE.
Funded Aug 19, 2020I want to express my deepest gratitude for your generous donation of air purifiers, face shields, and masks through DonorsChoose. Your thoughtful contribution has made a profound impact on our classroom and the well-being of both students and staff.
The air purifiers have been invaluable in improving the quality of the air we breathe, creating a healthier environment for all. Cleaner air helps reduce the spread of airborne illnesses, including the common cold, flu, and COVID-19, allowing students to focus better and feel more comfortable in the classroom. It also means fewer absences, helping students stay on track with their learning.
The face shields and masks have provided an extra layer of safety, ensuring that our in-person learning can continue with peace of mind. This protection has allowed us to focus on what truly matters—learning and growing—without the constant worry of illness spreading through the classroom.
Your donation has made our classroom a safer place to learn and work, and for that, we are truly grateful. Thank you for investing in our students' health and education, and for helping to create a more stable and secure learning environment.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Goldstein
To "Library and Beyond!"
Funded Aug 13, 2019Since most of the books we received have trickier words in it, I use these books to teach mostly comprehension, story elements, and characters. Every day the "star student" gets to choose a read aloud book for the day and ever since we received these books, every student has chosen one. The characters in these books are ones that my students already know and love. They can't help but smile when they see the cover!
Some of the books, like "Don't let the pigeon drive the bus" they know by heart. These books are especially enjoyable for my struggling readers and my English Language Learners. They are able to feel successful because they can describe what the problem is, or how the character is feeling even though they are unable to read a lot of the words. I am so thankful to have received these wonderful, fun, and engaging books because they are helpful to every student. No matter what reading level they are on or language they speak, they all feel the same happiness when reading and listening to these stories.”

This classroom project was brought to life by The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and 3 other donors.Let's Play Mind Games!
Funded Mar 27, 2018I would like to express my sincere appreciation for your donation of the classroom games for my students. Every single one of my students has expressed to me how much fun they have LEARNING from these games. Many children are used to playing games that do not impact their academic skills. Using these educational games lets them learn in an exciting and different way than they're used to.
First grade is the core foundation for reading and writing. In order to successfully read and write, students must be able to read sight words. Writing a word three times each may be helpful for some, but many students do not remember how to read and write that word by the next week. Using sight word games makes students use the words in different ways, therefore they are more likely to remember them. They associate the words with fun and I've noticed their sight word knowledge has increased since starting to play the games.
Without your donation, my students would not understand how they can play games and learn at the same time! Thank you for helping my students continue to grow as learners. You are truly appreciated.”

This classroom project was brought to life by Ripple and 2 other donors.Paper, and Glue, and Markers..Oh my!
Funded Jan 25, 2018When receiving a giant box of supplies, my students were confused. They did not think all these wonderful things were for them. After letting them know, they were so excited and eager to begin using them. They could not wait to start drawing pictures, creating projects, and completing more worksheets. We even started that day. Thanks to your donations, my students were given the opportunity for their imagination to come to life in their work.
Specifically, during the time we received the supplies we were working on our animal unit in Science. Students were able to make a mobile showing different types of animals. Without the new supplies, they would not have been able to do that. Additionally, in Writing, my students were creating their own book series. Without markers they would not have been able to illustrate their books. Even though these supplies are so accessible to some of us on a daily basis, my students are not able to afford them. Thanks to your donation, my students were able to feel like they were like any other student out there. Thank you again for your generous donation and for putting smiles on my students' faces.”

This classroom project was brought to life by The First Million Fund and one other donor.Printer Please!
Funded Sep 25, 2017Thank you so much for your generous donations to help support my students. Your donations has provided us with such an amazing tool that we can use in all of our subject areas. I am so excited to have students' who are able to complete worksheets, write stories, and create projects. Being in a school with over 800 students, copies take a very long time to be made, especially when one is often broken. Having a printer and ink in the classroom lets me provide my students with the resources they need when they need them as opposed to waiting a week for them.
Technology is used every day in my classroom for almost every lesson. We use the Smart Board and computer to display books, play math games, and watch science videos. Any time a student gets a chance to come up to the Smart Board, they get excited. Specifically, the students who have trouble participating in other lessons, really enjoy using technology because they are more capable at participating.
Thank you for not making my job easier, but for giving my students more opportunities to learn.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Goldstein
