Bookworms in Need of Books!
Funded Dec 2, 2017Thank you so much for your generosity towards our class. Some of my second grade students have disabilities such as dyslexia that make it very difficult for them to read on grade level. In our school, children are assessed and given an independent reading level between A thru Z. In second grade, most students fall within the range of levels J-M.
This year, I have a hand full of students who came to second grade reading on levels B-E. Unfortunately, my classroom just did not have enough books on these levels for them to read. Often, they would have to go to another lower grade classroom to find books on their reading level. Although they never complained, I am sure they were embarrassed.
Now, thanks to your generosity, these students are able to find titles they are interested in, on their levels, right in our own classroom. What a relief to them! Since exposing these new books to my struggling readers, each of them have already moved up at least one reading level! I am positive these new books helped make a difference!
Thank you for helping boost my students' confidence and playing a part in their success!”

Wanted: Two Meeting Areas for Parallel Teaching!
Funded Aug 3, 2017We love our new classroom carpet! We are using it EVERYDAY and just love how clean and bright it is. Each day a small group of students meet at "the back carpet" to review math material that they need some extra help with. It has made such a difference having a nice area to work in, and a great motivator. In addition, students have been flocking to the "back carpet" to read their independent and partner books.
When our students first walked into the classroom on the morning we had our new carpet there were many "ooohs" and "aaahs". They were all squealing with delight and saying how NICE it was!
Tomorrow we are completing a spooky STEM activity for Halloween and have invited our families to join us! The students are so excited to show off the new classroom rug, and even asked which group would be working back there!
Thank you for making all of this possible! I hope you enjoy the pictures of our grateful students.”

This classroom project was brought to life by An Anonymous Funder and 20 other donors.Rug Time, Please!
Funded Dec 20, 2013Thank you all so much for donating to our new classroom carpet! The "ooohs and aaahs" that came out of the students' mouths upon entering the room and seeing their bright, colorful, clean new rug would put a smile on anyone's face.
Each student has been assigned their very own carpet spot. We have been having morning meetings in our new meeting area and it has been working out great! We also now have a comfortable place to read, and work in small groups. Recently, a few students were even playing one of our favorite math games on the carpet.
Having this new carpet really allows us to utilize the space in our classroom better. We now have a place that we can comfortably sit, learn, read, and work! We can not thank you enough for your genorosity!”

Guided Reading Books for Students With Disabilities
Funded May 19, 2013When our new guided reading books arrived, my students were over the moon. It felt like a holiday as I slowly opened up the box and pulled out each shiny brand new book title by title. The oohs and aaahs were priceless. As I pulled out books about spaceships, some of the boys screamed, " I am reading that book first, I want to be an astronaut!" Then, as I pulled out a book about farming a little girl shouted, "Farming? I LOVE farming, my grandma lives on a farm!" This was something I never knew! Your gifts brought excitement back into our classroom library and I can not thank you enough for that.
My students and I use the new books to do a lot of small group work. They are all classified with learning disabilities, and reading is not easy for any of them. We had exhausted our current resources and trying to get them excited to read, something that is difficult for them to begin with, with our old, faded, torn books was becoming quite the challenge for me. Now, with our new books, children walk into the classroom and check our schedule board to see if is their day to work with me during or reading group time. This not only warms my heart, but makes my job so much easier! Motivating the students is half the battle, and you helped do just that.
It is so nice to know that their are such kind people in this world who would take time and money of their own to offer gifts to children whom they have never met. Besides receiving the gifts, your donations have helped me teach my students about compassion and kindness. That is an invaluable lesson that I hope they carry with them for the rest of their lives. I hope one day they will be able to pay it forward. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts in NYC!”

A Magic Carpet for Special Need Students!
Funded Sep 6, 2006It is so nice to see that people like you choose to make a difference in the lives of children. Each day when my class meets on our new carpet we will be reminded of the kindness that still exists in the world today. From my entire class we send a big thank you for making our classroom a more colorful, comfortable, and happy place to come to each and everyday. I can not wait to share the news of this donation with my class tomorrow. What a wonderful way to start off the school year. Again, thank you so very much for this wonderful and GENEROUS gift. It is greatly appreciated.
