Many of my students have varying types and degrees of sensory issues. Some like to roll a spiked ball or feel the grooves in another type of ball. This can help my students calm, self soothe and help them get ready to learn. I also have students that always seem to be in motion, with the sensory balls and mats my students can be in motion, but do it quietly and a way that is comfortable for them. The use of Theraputyy, will help my students develop strength in their hands, which will develop muscle tone in the hand and forearm. This will help my students be better able to hold pencils, markers, scissors and any other types of manipulatives to aide in their learning. Using the foam sensory paint will give students who have low muscle tone in their hands to write words, letters, numbers, shapes and the softness of the foam is soothing to some of my students. Many of my students have issues when it comes to voices and voice levels. Whisper phones will help my students practice proper voice level and reading skill development. Auditory is one channel to help my students, but so is visual. In asking for ink cartridges, I am using them to print picture cards out for visual schedules, individual student books of schedules, board maker type boards that can be moved around, daily schedules for my students and cards to help them communicate their wants or needs. As well as for vocabulary development, picture cards with the words help in their memory, idea development and writing.
