Flexible seating is sweeping the education community as a way to better meet the needs of the students. Everyone learns differently and I want to be able to allow students the opportunity to learn the way that is best for them. Flexible seating is a developmentally appropriate accomodation for all kids in kindergarten. Some kids need to sit, stand, kneel or spread out to focus best and learn effectively. Simply providing a variety of seating choices helps the students take ownership of their learning and makes them better students who are focused and ready to learn without simple obstacles in their way. I am asking for stability balls, soft seats and bouncy bands. These will allow the kids to bounce out some of their energy while working or to sit on the floor comfortably while working.
