The items are things that I've been wanting to get for a while as they will help the students to observe some scientific ideas more clearly. Even more importantly, it will give them chances to observe, think, predict, and use the scientific method. The first thing that I really want my students to have is the static electricity kit which will provide resources for them to explore the idea of static electricity in the classroom, and hopefully spur them on to explore more at home. The next major item that I desire to get is that of the erosion table. The main purpose of this is so that they students can practice observing, predicting, and analyzing what they are seeing without me trying to pour the water or struggle to get the idea across just using a tin. Another major item is the Young Scientist Kit for static electricity by Frey Scientific. The students will be practicing thinking like a scientist as they use this kit to understand this phenomenon that's all around them. I'm also asking for a magnetic field viewing cylinder to practice observation and scientific modeling skills. I'm also asking for dice to help students gain some fraction mathematical thinking. In most ways the items are to help them engage in the thinking process that is fundamental in 21st century learning.
