Imagine the possibilities! If I could provide my students with an in-class garden, we can explore endless scientific principles in a project based, student led learning environment. Designing botany experiments, analyzing soil conditions, researching sustainable agriculture, the list goes on and I haven't even mentioned cross-curricular activities! We can tie this into math, literature, technology, and engineering without even trying! The benefits are endless. The Growlab mobile indoor garden has all the requirements we need to successfully grow a wide variety of plants and vegetable inside the classroom, regardless of the weather. Students can check on their projects daily, creating data logs and journals. The rootcubes will allow us to immediately plant seeds and begin the process. This is the first step towards a greater vision I have for my students. I would like them to be the class that takes the first steps towards a school greenhouse. With the knowledge and enthusiasm gained from growing our own vegetables, we will begin researching and designing a greenhouse large enough for the entire to school to utilize and benefit from.
