Beginning woodwind players need a lot of support. Learning to use cleaning supplies correctly right from the start helps the beginning musician learn habits that will keep their instrument working well. A supply of quality new reeds will also go a long way to helping these students be successful. Because the students here would not be able to be in band if there were fees of any kind involved, the first question students ask regarding band is about the cost. Instruments are supplied and maintained by the district, but there is no money in the budget for reeds and cleaning supplies. With financial support from this grant all woodwind students will be able to participate in band without the worry of the price of a reed or cleaning swab!
