I am very blessed to be my students' math teacher. I hope my students will have the necessary school materials (e.g. dry erase markers, glue sticks, color pencils, highlighters, notebooks, and etc.) for them to use to better help them with their learning. With sufficient funding, my students can have dry erase markers to practice math problems on their mini whiteboard and get instant feedback from me so that they can improve on their mathematical skills. With glue sticks and color pencils, my students can create projects to present their mathematical knowledge, which in turn will improve their collaboration and presentation skills – an important and necessary skill in the working environment. As for the highlighters, most of my students are visual learners and something as simple as color-coding their notes with their highlighters really makes a big difference in helping students to better understand mathematical concepts. Buying a notebook to use in class may sound like a simple task, but for some of my students, it poses a great challenge as their family struggle with finances. By providing notebooks to my students, they can take notes (something that many may take for granted) and work on math problems – a written record of what we did in class so the students can refer to it when needed. With the funds, my students will greatly benefit in learning and improving their mathematical skills when they have access to these materials. With the struggle that many of my students face in life, your funding will send a positive message to my students that someone out there is looking out for them and wanting them to succeed in school and in life.
