  • Calculators for AP Calculus AB

    Funded Mar 16, 2021

Thank you to all the friends, family, anonymous donors, and friends/family of my friends who donated to my project. The kids will have a great opportunity to learn hands on with these calculators. I only get 50 words to thank you, but 1000 would insufficient to express my gratitude.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Cruz

  • Let's Make Whiteboards REMARKABLE!

    Funded Sep 1, 2019

It took forever to get the custodians to put up my whiteboards, but for a bit of time before covid hit, my students were so happy with the new whiteboards... They could finally see my writing and my projections on the whiteboard and not on a thin white board film that would not erase. I was also finally able to have students come up to the whiteboard to share without having to worry if they grabbed the eraser at the precise angle that will not make the white board get all smeared and impossible to write on. My students are struggling with the adjustment to the online world of teaching and a few of them come in to our school building, but my classroom is not in use... I look forward to using the white boards again next year. :) I hope...”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Cruz

I am moving to a different classroom this school year and this particular classroom has not been updated. Instead of a whiteboard, it has a blackboard with Whiteboard tape over it. This worked for a while in the classroom, but the tape has started peeling and no longer erases well. We could put another of layer on, but how many layers can we really put on there? It feels like a temporary solution. I do not want my students to have to deal with less than ideal classroom situations just because they come from neighborhoods where poverty is the norm. I myself am from the Bronx and was lucky enough to have a quality education that did not lack basic materials for learning. I strive to make my lessons great and would like to deliver them on a pristine white board, so that there is no issues with the students being able to see what I write or project. Please help my students have the best learning conditions possible.
