Organizing for Success
Funded Aug 14, 2024Thank you so much for helping fund my project. My students were so excited when they saw the new carts in the classroom. They help my students, my co-teacher and I to organizer our materials and keep them near by.
In our classroom we have tons of manipulatives and supports that students can use to make sense of learning. Often materials had to be kept in different locations, or not in reach. The carts allowed the students to keep supports near-by, so they can be accessed at anytime. Students are able to keep their items organized in way that is convenient and aesthetic.
Thank you again!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Porzio

Funded Jul 31, 2019Thank you so much for your generous donations! Our second grade classrooms have been using the Time For Kids magazine every week to study important current events going on in their communities and the world around them. The have learned about everything from the devastating fires in the Brazilian Rainforest to how children are helping others in their communities by holding birthday parties for children in need.
Students have been using a variety of strategies when reading the articles. They have been working on how to identify the main idea of an article and support it with key details from the text. They have also worked on building paragraphs that start with a clear topic sentence and are supported by facts from the article. Students even used their math skills to plan a party for a friend within a certain budget.
As the year progresses students will continue to read the articles and use more complicated strategies to help them comprehend the articles. Students will be making predictions and connecting to the text as they respond to tasks. These articles are not only helping students become aware of the world around them, but they are also becoming stronger readers. Thank you again for your support.”
