My student's learning will be greatly impacted by these resources and supplies. Many of the students I work with struggle to read. They have been verified with a reading disability and receive intense specialized instruction, however need effective resources to accommodate their needs during their independent work time to ensure they continue to build on their reading skills. Research has proven that students with a reading disability benefit from a multi-sensory structured literacy approach to meet their learning needs. These resources would allow students to not only read visually, but read through their ears as well. Students would also have the opportunity to have some hands on materials to allow for movement and touch while learning to read. Many students would benefit from these materials that would open up more pathways to the brain to meet their learning needs. My students love to learn and are eager to read on their own. I would love the opportunity to put some additional tools in their hands to help them get there.
