Anchor charts are necessary in many of my lessons. They provide scholars with a visual in the initial learning, and provide something to display in the classroom to which scholars can refer back. The ability to refer back to the anchor charts provides scholars with a bridge between old and new concepts. They also help students by enabling them to verbalize what they are learning. Anchor charts are expensive and I am asking for a pack of six unlined Post-it Easel Pads, a pack of two blue and yellow ruled Post-it Easel Pads, and two packs of Sharpie Flip Chart Markers. In my reading and writing lessons, I use anchor charts on a daily basis. In a recent study of text dependent analysis, I created anchor charts as a model for the scholars to follow. The steps in the writing process are color coded, helping students to know where they are in the process. In my social studies lessons, anchor charts are important as well. Recently, I was able to draw out the natives moving to North and South America in the land Bridge Theory study. In addition, scholars use these materials to draw their own anchor charts of their learning.
