We are a specialized arts high school, where students must audition in a "studio" (art, instrumental, drama, etc.). The school takes some of the most motivated, creative and ambitious young people around. While I have taught for seven years, my first one at my new school was a revelation- I have never had so many students “buy in” to creative projects and willingly put themselves in front of their peers. In conjunction with novels they read, students presented interpretive dances, short original plays, TV talk shows, comic books, gallery walks- the list goes on and on.
