  • A Slice of Pi, Computer Center

    Funded Mar 23, 2018

On behalf of my school, my class and myself, we would like to thank each and every donor who made this project possible. The computers we gained were extremely helpful to our students. They were able to experience learning in a different way. They are able to research, explore math, reading and have fun using our new computers.

The most rewarding part is being able to see the joy on my students fave when it is time to work in groups. They are excited to learn the content being taught. it is also rewarding to be able to learn new things from my students.

Thank you all for your generosity.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Mohammed

This classroom project was brought to life by Verizon and 12 other donors.
This is based on a very successful project of one of my colleagues to bring modern computers into the classroom. Technology is an essential element in a modern education. There are educational programs, application, and resources available at no cost to us. Free is always the best way, right? Unfortunately, these resources available and profitable to our kids if they have the right tools. We need computers that are able to run the great resources available. The Raspberry pi 3 the solution. It is affordable and designed for use in the educational environment. If this project is funded, we will have the means by which to make use of free software. Our kids will be supported by being able to learn in the classroom with programs like sonic-pi, Gimp, libre office, Gcompris, TuxMath, and Scratch. Scratch is a computer programming software that 2nd graders can use. Thanks to Practice Makes Perfect I can use and teach this to our kids. Imagine we can mold the computer engineers of the future from the age of eight! Furthermore, in addition to the huge library of educational programs, our students will also have access to many high-quality online resources. Some of these include prodigy math game, Star fall, ABCya, PBS KIDS, Khon Academy, Brain POP, and tumble books!
