Having a common gathering space to host our morning meetings as well as to deliver my daily lessons is crucial to our classroom learning. We start the day by having a morning meeting. Morning meetings helps build classroom community. It's a safe place where students get to share out. It also allows for students to build on those essential skills, such as being an active listener and public speaking. Morning meetings are also great because they set the tone for the day allowing students to know what to expect and if there have been any changes to our daily schedule.
