  • Chill Out

    Funded Aug 14, 2024

Wow! Thank you so much for the paper slicer and the mini fridge! It was over 100 degrees last week and my Kindergartners were all red faced and dehydrated. I was very lucky to have the fridge to cool down water bottles during those tough days. The paper slicer is being used weekly to prep art projects and classwork. It is the perfect size for my office! I plan on using the fridge for storage of home made play dough used for centers. Home made play dough needs to be stored in the fridge so that it does not dry out.”

  • Life's a Garden, Dig It

    Funded Apr 20, 2024

Kindergarten is a very "hands-on" grade level. Students are learning about letters, numbers, and the world around them. Once Spring time comes around we tend to take some of our learning outside! Growing seeds, tracking the Sun's path across the sky, and watching the life cycle of bugs are just some of the activities we do. The wagon and shade are great tools for me in transporting and setting up the before mentioned activities. I also used the tools on a School Field Trip as well, the kids loved sharing the shade from the pop-up!!”

  • Just Your Friendly Neighborhood Extrinsic Motivation!

    Funded May 13, 2024

Thank you so much for giving me an extra tool in my bag to accommodate the challenges "tough" Students pose. By incorporating a reward/progress tracker, I will help challenging Students be able to track their progress towards earning their reward! The visual aide will be on hand to reinforce Teacher expectations. I had originally asked for a Playstation with Spiderman but they ran out of stock by the time my request was answered. However, after reflecting a bit I realized that Students love Mario and that it is a great motivation as well!”

  • Our Community Rocks!

    Funded Apr 1, 2024

There are many subject areas covered in a regular Kindergarten School year including English, Mathematics, Science, and the concept of Communities and Community Servants. I had to front load my Students about the dress up clothing and the meaning behind each role. They loved putting on the outfits and pretending to be Crossing Guards, Police, and Construction Workers just to name a few. Within the lessons I designed were activities and discussions focused on how different people serve our communities.”

  • Sensory Safe

    Funded Mar 21, 2024

Talk about a big impact! My sensory sensitive kiddos loved and adored their noise cancelling headphones and used them during louder end of the year activities. This year I will have five moderately/severely challenged Students mainstreamed into my class for part of the day. I wanted to have as many resources for those Students as possible and your donation will serve that purpose. The tablet has been helpful for over stimulated kiddos as well. It is very purpose used in my class. We have learning tablets and calming ones.”

  • Oh The Places You'll Go!!

    Funded Apr 15, 2024

In my World of Education, Kindergarten Graduation is a big deal to the Students and their Parents. The traditional cap and gown method used for years has been taken over by Pre-School graduation ceremonies. My Students love Dr. Seuss, including the books, the characters, and rhymes. We even celebrate his Birthday in March. On day strolling through Amazon Backdrops, I came upon a mural for staging a mock graduation ceremony in Dr. Seuss style that I had to have. The missing component was a gift for my graduating Kinders. The current fad of having each of your Child's Teachers write something nice about them to give at their High School Graduation is a precious one that I wanted to provide to my Students' Parents. I hope to continue this tradition.”

  • Droning On and On

    Funded Apr 11, 2024

They say "a picture is worth a thousand words," however in this day in age, a drone picture of huge School wide event is worth even more. The memories recording by the drone footage have already been shared with the community, Parents, and School Admin. I have had several Parents voice their appreciation for capturing precious moments that they were not able to attend. This summer I have been practicing my flying skills and picture taking skills and look forward to capturing more awesome School moments and sharing them with Parents and Admin alike! If it wasn't for Donors choose opportunities like these would not exist.”

  • Ready and Yeti

    Funded Mar 21, 2024

The moment my Students saw the Yeti cooler in the Class, they knew they would never have a warm water bottle again! Bakersfield is a very warm place to live. The first few weeks of School are filled multiple days over 100 degrees. For example, my Kindergarten Class participates in an annual Agriculture Festival at the local High School approximately half a mile away. I received they Yeti just in time to use for transporting sack lunches/water bottles to the event. The fact that the Students could grab a cold water anytime was truly a life saver. As the new School year approaches, I plan to use the Yeti to provide cold drinks for the Parents and Students that come meet me for our Traditional meet the Teacher. I have never been able to do that before, so thank you for the much appreciated donation.”

  • It Takes A Village

    Funded Apr 1, 2024

Looks like I pulled custodial duty!!! I've had to teach the Students several times that the vacuum is a tool for Teachers and not for Students! The cool thing that has happened is that the kiddos want to get to the end of the day when we clean the room so they can see the Dyson in action! The wipes have been very helpful as well. As you may or may not know, there is a lot of glue used in Kindergarten which ends up on the tables. The kids love wiping the tables up at the end of the day too. I think the custodial staff owes me a thank you! haha”

  • The Future is Now!!!

    Funded Apr 1, 2024

I cannot believe how how lucky we are to have gotten the laptop funded. One thing that I have already noticed that I had not thought about ahead of time is how much they enjoy using the touch screen. I can already see small improvements in hand eye coordination! I plan on purchasing a child's version of the coding program called Python. I also plan on teaching them how to use the track pad more often than the touch screen. Technology is the future and you have helped my Students take the first steps in the right direction.”

Apple products are becoming a necessity in modern classrooms. My classroom is no different. Having a tablet in the classroom will not only give my students access to technology, but it will also open the door to educational learning apps. The learning games will tone their fine motor skills which is a MUST in Kindergarten. My students will be able to visit places they have never seen before and peek into stories they've only read. A color printer will match up well with our thematic "color" days in kindergarten. These students are eager and willing to learn in as many different ways as possible.
