Gone are the days of using overhead transparencies to teach students math in high school. With document cameras, teachers can project anything on the board - textbooks, 3-D models, notes, assignments, student work, calculators, or even geometric constructions and measurements.
Your donation will increase student engagement and give students access to technology to further deepen their understanding of mathematics. Math is about more than following processes to get an answer, and document cameras encourage students to see WHY something works instead of the prehistoric "drill-and-practice" method.
Teachers can also record lessons to post to an online platform to share with struggling or absent students. With our district pushing for each student to have their own laptop in upcoming years, these videos will allow students to work at their own pace.
Document cameras allow a teacher to work with an entire classroom of students, instead of taking too much time working one-on-one when it's not necessary.
Providing visual aides in math also helps our growing English Language Learner student population make connections between English words and objects/concepts. Math is universal across all languages, and document cameras would promote reading, writing, listening, and speaking in English for these students.
All of these benefits (and more!) will help our students succeed in math, earn their high school credits, and boost state assessment and college admission test scores.
Please consider ANY sort of donation - big or small!
