Covid-19 has been difficult for everyone. Pre-school was unavailable for many of my students. They missed out on social and learning skills that they would have been taught within the pre-school setting, along with basic social norms within the community. Missing out on the 'pre-school experience' has affected some student's abilities to 'take turns, share and ‘have patience' in learning new concepts when they don't come automatically to them. By donating to my project you will be providing my students with various tools for learning. Students will be given a variety of learning experiences through decodable readers. For those students who still need letter and sounds automaticity, kinesthetic and hands-on learning activities will be available. As a whole group the students practice phonemic and phonological awareness skills. Providing games for whole group learning turns a skill, that can often be redundant, into fun experiences. When students are having fun learning they are more engaged and able to retain the concepts being taught.
