We use this title to support the inquiry question: Why Are the Stories We Tell Important? We use this unit to delve into the power of narrative structure and how writing narratives are not only important to most cultures but provide people with a powerful communication strategy. Having 40 copies of Orphan Train will grant all our students access to this book as right now we are borrowing books from wherever we can get them. My students are learning that their stories are important; Orphan Train is a great example of how powerful life stories can be and shows students that their stories are valuable.
