  • Sensory and Visual Aids for Special Education Scholars.

    Funded Oct 16, 2017

    Dear Donors,

Thanks to you, the students of Y-10, were able to complete fine motor activities during their center rotations. Gross motor play using the sensory balls have been added to our end of day activities. These items are highly motivating to the students and have even been included in behavior plans as activities to complete after working on non preferred work activities. We are now working on using the contributed items without prompting and working on mastering the skills involved independently.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. S.

  • Independent Reading Area!

    Funded Feb 13, 2018

First of all let me just say, thank you!

Your donation means that you understand just how valuable the items your contribution will purchase can be to a child with cognitive or physical challenges.

The students of Y10 will now have appropriate furniture for their calm down and reading areas. An additional learning center can increase educational and independent opportunities for students in the classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. S.

  • Cozy Library Center

    Funded Nov 12, 2017

Thank you for choosing to donate towards the creation of an effective classroom environment for my students! Details like these can make a world of difference in the classroom. I cannot wait to share thank you notes from my students and photographs of the rug in use. Thank you again!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. S.

My highly sensory seeking non verbal students will benefit from the bright and large daily schedule which they will be able to refer to during transitions from session to session. The large visual and sand timers will allow students to actively engage in time keeping when they are completing their independent work, toileting/"potty training and engaging in calming techniques. Sensory breaks are frequent in our classroom and I would like students to have access to safe, durable sensory options which is why I chose the sensory tubes, see through blocks, see through balls and sensory beanbags. All of the sensory materials can be used to strengthen academic skills in a fun way while the dressing boards develop adaptive daily living skills which are emphasized in the classroom setting as well. The fine motor jars would be a helpful addition to the students IEP goal workstations.
