Time to Be Woke
Funded Sep 28, 2021Wow! Your generosity has been touching, to say the least, however; unsurprising. If you have anything to do with these children, you know they are beyond deserving of the world at their fingertips. Your donations have granted them just that! Our subscription to TIME For Kids will enrich, empower and equip my students with the knowledge they need to take on the world. Thank you very much.”

This classroom project was brought to life by The Allstate Foundation and 4 other donors. Our Blue Tongued Skink Needs a Proper Home!
Funded Nov 9, 2018Your generosity has given so much to my class community. Our beloved class pet, a blue tongued skink named Ja'Ziya, now has an amazing new home. She is happier, healthier and thriving in her new tank with all the accessories!
I wish you could have seen how brightly the students' faces beamed when they saw all of the donated materials. They were thrilled that we can now provide such a fabulous and appropriate living environment for their dear pet. Visitors also are blown away by the high quality materials that we now have for Ja'Ziya. We recently had a visit from a New York State Senator who was in awe of the tank and materials! It was so fulfilling to be able to show it to him and hear the children explain not only how the donated materials help the well being of their pet but also how much it has enhanced their learning.
The donated materials have already provided more learning experiences than I imagined. The students have been able to conduct research and inquiry projects by observing Ja'Ziya in her new habitat while making connections to our current science unit focused on ecosystems. They have worked on their art skills by using Ja'Ziya and her new residence as inspirations for drawings and paintings. The students have been able to develop their responsibility by caring for the pet and maintaining her shelter. The donated materials have also provided the students with opportunities to develop their social-emotional skills. When students experience difficult emotions, many of them will choose to sit and observe Ja'Ziya as a tool to get back to their best self.
My students and I (as well our skink) are touched and grateful for your donations. Thank you so very much.”

Ms. Bannon
