I am requesting a listening center, read along book sets, and a stereo for my class. My students will use the listening center during our centers time. I need something that my students can be taught to use on their own. Sometimes in Kindergarten, students need a lot of support and have a lot of questions. After being taught how to use the listening center on their own, I can focus more time towards my small reading groups. One of the most important things a Kindergartener can learn is how to read. Students need to be able to have one-to-one correspondence. In other words, they need to understand that there is a space in between in each word and that determines which word to point to when following along. A listening center assists in this part of the reading process.
