Flexible Floor Seats for Our Reading Space!
Funded Feb 13, 2025I am so excited to see the news that this project was funded! Thank you all so much for your help in making this happen. This will be so great for the students to encourage exploring the art books on the rug and provides more options for early finishers. We are learning about Faith Ringgold and Basquiat. Now students can take turns on the rug space to read more about these amazing artists in a comforting and inviting floor chair! You all make an incredible difference supporting my students and I am so so happy to be able to write this thank you note! From the students and myself, thank you so much!!!!”

Magnificent Mini Art Show!
Funded Oct 18, 2022My students were thrilled to receive a mini canvas and easel! They had a blast using new paint palettes, acrylics and a variety of brushes to create mini landscapes. This grant not only provided students with the opportunity to create a mini canvas but also provided materials for other lessons.
All of my students are able to use the variety of brush shapes such as round, flat, filbert, detail and fan when painting and we have enough acrylic left over for other painting lessons with the older students. The brushes will be an incredible addition to future painting projects for years to come wether we are using acrylic, watercolors, or tempera.
When the students first saw the materials, they cheered with excitement and were thrilled that they would get to keep the mini canvas and easel. Seeing their art on display at the school library and district office made them feel so proud. They were also very grateful to have a special art present to give their families during the holidays.”

Funded Dec 7, 2018Thank you so much for funding our fashion design program!!! All of my students wanted to use the tie-dye and they love to use the sewing machines! We have dyed all of the muslin fabric for our fashion show and students are working hard on finishing their garments. So many students wanted to be in the fashion show that we had to move the date to June to finish all of the looks. All of the clothes are handmaid form the muslin so students have to make sure the clothes fit well. Students created their own patterns as well.
My 4th and 5th graders have been hard at work making the perfect look for their model 1st graders to figure out what their model wanted to wear. Some of the looks include a cat (in one of the photos), an astronaut, a veterinarian, an ice queen, a mermaid, a hip hop artist, a pediatrician, a policeman, an FBI agent, a shark and a princess. It is so fun for the first graders to direct the older students to design their perfect dream look. They meet before school and during recess and lunch to sew, dye, and add detail to the outfits. We are so excited for the fashion show in June and we will be able to do this again next year because of your donations!!
We are also working on pillows and stuffed animals in 2nd and 3rd grade and everyone wants a chance on a machine. I have older students who now are able to teach their peers on how to sew as well. We are so thankful and so excited to continue to grow our fashion program! Thank you so much!”

Funded Jan 9, 2019The students and I want to say thank you for the art donations! My students loved the tiny canvases the most and I remember when we opened the boxes, my 8th graders were very excited and crowded around the table to get a canvas. It usually take a lot to impress them and they were like kids at Christmas asking for one. They also loved the mini easels and the bookmaking tools. Students painted animals, oceans, people, cities, galaxies and more. We were able to do a lot of art with various classes and displayed the art at a district show this past month A lot of the students put in a lot of tiny detail and would come in at recess to work on their art.
Quotes from students included Maeva "I love my tiny giraffe!" Christopher" I thank you for buying us small canvases and book making!" Ismael: "It was so tiny that and I could make a tiny galaxy!" Angel "I appreciate the tiny canvases. I liked to paint on them" Cesar"I like sharks and I painted one and made it like he was in the ocean!" Daniela "Thank you for the mini canvases. My classmates had a lot of fun with them!" Victoria said"Thank you for all the art supplies you gave us. We are really grateful. I like doing art because it helps me calm down and helps me think of stories and characters"
We are lucky enough to continue with our art program next year which is only possible because of donations. We will continue to work on drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking and even fashion design next year. We are having a fashion show at our school in June and the 5th graders are making the 1st graders outfits to model. The students definitely love painting and clay the most and just finished working on animals and their habitat using clay. We are also working on a yearbook cover design where one student's design will be printed as the yearbook cover design. Thank you again for the incredible donation of art supplies. We are so appreciative and the students had a blast using the materials.”

Self-Expression in Acrylics
Funded Dec 18, 2017When the art supplies arrived in my classroom, it was like Christmas for the students. Waiting in anticipation to open the huge boxes, the students were both excited and surprised to be allowed to use use nice materials. Beautiful easels, canvases and paints were here for the children to use. Many students had never seen an easel or stretched canvas before and they felt so special to be given these supplies. When we passed out the canvases, students asked "Do we get to keep these?" I explained that they would get to keep the canvases after the art show but that we would want to display their work first.
The students planned out their canvases with ideas inspired by nature with the finished goal of displaying the finished paintings at the Baylands Nature Preserve in Palo Alto, CA. Students looked at images of various plants, animals and land and seascapes while sketching their ideas out on paper and then onto canvas. They have been practicing using tempera paint and were excited to use the vibrant acrylics on their canvases propped up with professional easels. Many students came in at recess and lunch to work on their art and were so proud of their results.
We are lucky to have such beautiful art supplies and the students are looking forward to seeing their paintings on display for the public to view. We will be able to use the beautiful table easels again and again, and I hope to continue to provide canvases and acrylic paints for the students through future grants. The students were very inspired by this project and love to paint and draw any chance they get. Thank you so much from Los Robles Magnet Academy. This donation was a huge gift to our school and art program”
