Rolling to Support Student Learning
Funded Nov 22, 2019Thanks to your donations I’ll be able to monitor my students’ writing without hurting my back! I’m thankful for people like you who want to support the teachers’ work. There is no budget at my school for things that make our lives easier, so we really depend on the generosity of nice citizens like you!”

P.E. Engaging Equipment
Funded Sep 11, 2019My 2 groups of students do 20 minutes of Physical Education every day. We do a few minutes of cardio and the last 10 minutes or so we play some game that helps them with the PE standards.
One of the games we play is jump ropes, which you can see in some of the pictures. They are divided in groups of 3 and take 1-minute-turns to practice their jumping. The ropes we were using before were really messy and we didn't even have enough, so we were having to borrow them from other teachers, which was very inconvenient, of course. We don't have that problem anymore!
In the other pictures, they are bouncing our beautiful colored balls, which is another game we play for them to get good practice at bouncing. Again, what we were doing before was borrowing balls from different teachers, one from each classroom around us, very time consuming! And many times the balls we borrowed didn't even bounce so well!
We are so happy with our brand new equipment now!!!”

Clean and Warm California (Rug) Under Students' Bottoms
Funded Sep 8, 2017I am so happy to finally offer my students a clean and educational rug to sit on when we look at projected images on our screen . The one we had before was painful to even look at! But there was no way I could get it replaced given the budget cuts that have been happening in our school district.
It was delightful to see those surprised and excited faces look at the new rug when I surprised them with it. I tried to capture those faces in the pictures and I think I did! They knew that it was a map, but I had to explain where it was from, so we had and periodically have some geography spontaneous lessons.
I am now using that space and technology more than I used to. I project books that are too little for them to see when I do read alouds. We have also been able to watch a video about our Foss Science Unit, which they really enjoyed! I also do a piece of my foundational skill teaching called Word Knowledge where they see me write words on the big screen and practice decoding harder words. This beautiful rug basically opened up a learning space for us!”

Ms. Luna
