My students in this class are all preparing themselves to be college ready! This semester we are focusing on research skills, culminating in a research written project. To keep them motivated, they each got to pick any historical topic that interested them. Giving them a choice in topic makes research fun! It has been fun to see where their different interests lie. Some examples of the topics include: World War I battle tactics, the integration of baseball, the Russian Revolution and Romanov family, the Indian occupation of Alcatraz, and the Hitler Youth program. While giving them choice is GREAT, it can be difficult on a classroom budget! While students have used the internet and a database to find sources, they are now ready to start reading non-fiction books. Each student spent time researching various books and have created a list of what they believe to be the most valuable source to help their project. By purchasing these books, my students will be able to really dive into their research!
