Can You Hear It?
Funded Jan 23, 2019Thank you so much for your generosity in funding our classroom. Many don't realize the impact that working technology can have on students over time. Because my students have headphones, they can now do more fruitful research, increase their reading levels, and even teach themselves new skills. Many of my students are new to the United States and do not speak English. Having access to audiobooks and tutorials has expedited their learning acquisition substantially. My students now are ready to get to work with excitement, knowing they can use the "good headphones". Apparently, the headphones that you funded are better than everyone Else's who knew?!”

Daily Bulletin: Kids Need a Stimulating Environment!
Funded Aug 14, 2018Thanks to your generous donations, my students were able to begin this school year in a bright and engaging setting. The theme for this school year is "Growth Mindset". By presenting the information my students need among "growing" imagery, they are constantly reminded of this goal and ways that they can achieve it.
8th grade is an important year for students in New York City. This year they are applying to high schools, some of which are very prestigious, with the hopes of being accepted to a school that will catapult them into a successful future. The prospect of the future can be scary, but having access to everything they need and a supportive environment helps them move forward comfortably.
When my students saw our bulletin boards and book bins this year they were very excited. They asked me immediately about what we would be working on and what 8th grade (7th for some) would be like. Currently, those students are working hard on completing their high school applications, and becoming accomplished readers and writers.”

This classroom project was brought to life by News Corp and 4 other donors.Ink and Seal! Students Need to Print and Laminate.
Funded Oct 21, 2017I cannot begin to express my gratitude for your contribution to our classroom. Many people do not realize the importance of being able to simply print and laminate in an academic space. Thanks to your generosity, we now have the ability to produce student writing on a larger scale, so that they may share it with friends and family. Students frequently ask me to print things for them, or make copies, that they want to bring home and show someone, or give to a friend.
Laminating takes the same route. The encouragement around the room and on our bulletin boards would not last the wear-and-tear of a classroom were it not for the ability to laminate. Students often ask to join me at lunch so that they can help me laminate new posters, and though it is a small piece, it engages students with what is going on in the classroom.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Volinsky
