  • Little Leaders Learn through STEAM Challenges

    Funded Sep 27, 2017

Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity!

My kiddos love learning from these hands-on activities and experiences. They take pride in their accomplishments and know that if they stay focused and work hard, they can achieve anything! You have enabled us to learn more about science and technology through STEAM projects in our classroom.

My kiddos have been able to use these resources to develop their creative thinking skills, pique their curiosity about the way our world is designed and built, and help them become real world problem solvers! The STEAM bins have been used students for independent work, partner work, and group work in all subject areas.

Some of our favorite projects have been designing a new toy or game, building Wilbur's (from our class novel, Charlotte's Web) pig pen, testing our engineering skills by building the tallest structures we can, and learning about measurement and properties of matter by making slime.

I wish you could have seen their faces of excitement when our STEAM materials arrived! You have truly impacted their enjoyment and passion towards Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math. Through your generosity the students are learning to be productive, helpful, and strong leaders in our society!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Fawcett

"Play is the highest form of research" - Albert Eisenstein. My third graders will learn to collaborate and develop problem solving skills through engaging STEAM (Science Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics) materials. We are in need of materials for our STEAM bins that students will use to solve challenges and problem solve real word issues. These materials will be used daily by students to develop their creative thinking skills, pique their curiosity about the way our world is designed and built, and help them become real world problem solvers! The STEAM bins will be accessible to students for independent work, partner work, and group work throughout the year and will be used in all subject areas. My third grade kiddos will begin to build a solid STEAM foundation that will allow them the opportunity to continue their education in a STEAM Field. Having STEAM bins and materials that students can use to solve a challenge equips students with skills that cannot be learned through traditional textbook learning. When children have the freedom and opportunity to design and build in a hands-on ways, they experience the struggles and pleasures of real world problem solving. I want my kiddos to learn to be productive, helpful, and strong leaders in our society!
