I teach science to 85 3rd Graders each day. My students would benefit from flexible seating that would give them choice and space to explore science in ways that allow them to think from a different perspective. Stools, portable lap desks and floor pillows are tools that will allow my students the freedom to investigate my Next Generation Science lessons with extra space for creativity to problem solve, read, analyze and interpret data through on-going investigations in my hands-on science classroom.
Traditional desks are always an option, but the donations for this project will greatly improve my classroom instruction! This flexibility will allow the students to be more engaged in technology and have the confidence to be in control of their own learning throughout my classroom.
I have seen the benefits of using flexible seating in other classrooms, and I believe that my project will make a difference because it will help to promote independence, hands-on learning and will reflect the learning styles of each of my 3rd grade students with the opportunity to choose their seating options.
