Students enjoy learning while moving, so incorporating games with physical activity into our learning helps them to be engaged and retain more knowledge. In each class, students are separated into groups of four. The basketball court is divided into sections. In each section, there is an activity that students will complete working both physically and cognitively. We need a bowling pin set, fitness dice, Scatter Ball and other equipment to use during these active rotations. The Fitness Skillastics Game and the Mission Team Building Activity will allow students to learn cooperation and working as a team to complete a task. It will integrate academics along with physical activity. The bowling activity will incorporate math and coordination skills. The running man, river stones, and fitness cubes will give students the opportunity to increase physical and cognitive development. Conversation cubes will initiate group discussions and will better development language and social skills. Mother May I is a beach ball that has questions written on it and questions are answered to be able to continue throwing the ball within the group. These circuit stations are rotated every 12 minutes, so students will continue moving onto new tasks. My students will use the equipment provided to learn the skills needed to work as a team, achieve their objectives of each station, and, without even knowing it, get physically fit while playing and learning. The addition of this equipment will encourage students to challenge each other in competitions, connecting physical and cognitive development to increase higher order thinking and building social skills needed to enhance relationships with peers.
