In the classroom I find myself constantly repeating these phrases; stop tapping, stop leaning back in your chair, sit down, sit still, or my favorite - please don't surf on your belly in your chair. Students need a way to move their bodies to grow their brains! Fidgeting is just one of the ways students need to get those creative juices flowing. With this donors choose I hope I can provide my students with a learning environment that not only helps them get their energy out, but doesn't distract the whole class when they fall out of their chair. Not to mention the reduction in injuries to these stunt devils. To do so I would love to be able to provide each one of my 21 students with a bouncy band for their chair that they can bounce their feet on until their hearts are content. I also hope to throw in some wobble cushions in my reading area because nothing releases the excited tension of reading like rolling around on the floor. The 6 balance balls will be rotated throughout the classroom so everyone has a chance to experience the joy of learning how to add while bouncing.
My dream is to one day have enough balance balls that everyone has the option of using a ball or a chair, because choices should be given when it comes to how you spend seven hours of your day (even if you're six.) To wrap it all up I also added in some light covers because lets face it, fluorescent lighting is awful! I really hope you chose to donate to our classroom. I know 21 stellar students and 1 mediocre teacher who would love you if you did!
