  • Super Supplies for Super Students

    Funded Aug 1, 2023

The impact of the supply donation on my 5th grade classroom was immediately noticeable and incredibly positive. Before receiving the folders, student belongings were often a chaotic mix of loose papers, crumpled assignments, and misplaced notes. This disorganization made it difficult for students to stay on top of their work and often led to frustration and lost learning time. The new folders provided a structured system for organizing their materials, directly supporting our AVID focus on developing essential organizational skills. Seeing students confidently access their work and maintain a tidy learning space has been truly rewarding. This simple tool has empowered them to take ownership of their learning and apply the AVID strategies we've been working on throughout the year.

Beyond the folders, the donation of markers and erasers has revitalized our note-taking process. Students are now enthusiastically creating colorful and engaging notes, using the markers to highlight key concepts and the erasers to refine their work. This has made learning more interactive and fun, and I've seen a noticeable improvement in student engagement and retention of information.”

  • Light Up Learning

    Funded May 6, 2022

I am writing to express my sincere gratitude for supporting our 5th-grade Glow Day celebration. This special event marks the 1,000th day of school for our students, a significant milestone in their educational journey. It's a day filled with excitement, engagement and and lasting memories.

Each year, our students eagerly anticipate celebrating the 100th day of school. In 5th grade, we amplify this celebration tenfold, recognizing the cumulative learning and growth represented by their 1,000th day. We transform our classroom into a glowing wonderland, creating an immersive and unique learning environment that fosters joy and wonder. Last year's Glow Day will be no exception, and we planned a series of engaging activities that your generous support will directly enhance.

Our day begins with tangram puzzles, designed to encourage problem-solving skills and critical thinking. These hands-on activities lay the foundation for a day of collaborative learning. We then delve into the science of glow sticks, exploring the chemical reactions that create light and sparking curiosity about the world around them. Independent reading with finger lights adds a touch of magic to quiet reading time, fostering a love of literature in a unique and captivating way.

The impact of Glow Day extends far beyond a single day of fun. Students frequently return to visit years later, reminiscing about the special memories created during this celebration. It's a day that ignites their passion for learning and reinforces the positive association they have with their education. Your contribution will help us create an unforgettable experience that will stay with these students for years to come.”

  • Read Aloud Magic!

    Funded Aug 20, 2021

The impact of the book donations on my fifth-grade classroom was truly remarkable. The new titles sparked a renewed excitement for reading, especially as we delved into different genres. Students were eager to explore the worlds within the pages, and the books provided excellent examples of strong writing techniques. We used these mentor texts to discuss how authors hook readers, craft vivid descriptions, and develop compelling narratives. Beyond writing skills, the books also served as a springboard for important social-emotional lessons.

The diverse collection of stories offered characters facing relatable challenges, which opened up valuable conversations about problem-solving, empathy, and resilience. My students connected with these characters and learned how to navigate their own emotions and social situations through the lens of literature. The donated books not only enriched our curriculum but also fostered a deeper love of reading and a stronger sense of community within our classroom.”

  • Super Students Need Supplies

    Funded May 20, 2021

I am writing to express my sincere gratitude for your generous donations to our classroom. Your support has made a tangible difference in the learning environment and has directly benefited my students. The pencil boxes have been invaluable in helping students organize their supplies, keeping their belongings neat and tidy, and preventing lost or damaged items. The dry erase boards have been a true game-changer! They have significantly increased student engagement during lessons, allowing for quick checks for understanding and providing a fun and interactive way for students to participate. I have already seen a positive impact on their learning and enthusiasm for classroom activities.

In addition to the pencil boxes and dry erase boards, your contributions of card stock have opened up exciting possibilities for STEAM projects, allowing my students to explore their creativity and problem-solving skills. The jumbo spinner has also been a huge hit! It adds an element of fun and excitement when we have a guest speaker or when students earn a class reward. It's also a fantastic tool for choosing quick break activities, helping us transition smoothly between lessons and keeping students energized and focused. Thank you again for your incredible support. Your generosity has enriched our classroom and made a real difference in the educational experience for my students.”

  • Keeping Art Going During Distance Learning

    Funded Sep 3, 2020

I am writing to express my sincere gratitude for your generous donation of sketchbooks and colored pencils during the 2020-2021 school year. These materials played a vital role in supporting my students' creative expression and emotional well-being during the challenging period of distance learning.

As we navigated the complexities of remote education, I recognized the need for an outlet that would allow my students to connect with the curriculum in a more engaging and personal way. The sketchbooks and colored pencils you provided enabled each student to visually interpret the books and passages we read together as a class. This hands-on approach brought the stories to life and fostered a deeper understanding of the material.

Beyond the academic benefits, these art supplies became a crucial tool for social and emotional learning. Students shared their artwork online, creating a unique platform for connection and communication during a time of isolation. These shared creations sparked conversations, fostered a sense of community, and offered a much-needed emotional release for students dealing with the anxieties and disruptions of the pandemic. For many, these sketchbooks became a safe space for self-expression and a way to process their experiences.

The impact of your donation extended beyond just filling a need for supplies. It provided a sense of normalcy and creative freedom during an unprecedented time. It helped bridge the physical distance between students and fostered a sense of belonging within our virtual classroom. The sketchbooks became more than just books; they became a vital link to connection, creativity, and emotional support.

Thank you again for your generosity and for recognizing the importance of art and creative expression in education, especially during challenging times. Your contribution made a significant difference in the lives of my students, and I am deeply grateful for your support.”

  • Making Ideas Light Up With Paper Circuits!

    Funded Mar 14, 2019

I just want to thank you for the donation of materials for our paper circuit project has had a tremendous impact on my students and their learning experience. These hands-on materials have allowed them to explore the concepts of circuitry in a tangible and engaging way. They're not just reading about it in a textbook anymore; they're actively building circuits, testing connections, and seeing the results firsthand. This has sparked a newfound curiosity and excitement about STEM fields, and I've witnessed some real "aha" moments as they figure out how to make their circuits work.

Beyond the specific science concepts, this project has also fostered crucial creativity and problem-solving skills. Each student is designing their own unique circuit, which requires them to think outside the box and come up with innovative solutions when they encounter challenges. They're learning to troubleshoot, adapt their designs, and persevere even when things don't work perfectly the first time. These are skills that will benefit them not just in science class, but in all areas of their lives. I'm so grateful for this donation, which has truly enriched my classroom and empowered my students to become creative thinkers and problem solvers.”

  • Anytime is a Good Time to Read!

    Funded Sep 17, 2020

I am writing to express my sincere gratitude for your generous donation of books to my fifth-grade classroom. These books have made a tremendous impact on my students' literacy development and their overall engagement with reading. Having multiple copies of titles like "Fish in a Tree" allows me to conduct effective read-alouds where every student can follow along, fostering a deeper understanding of the text and improving their reading fluency. This shared reading experience also sparks rich classroom discussions and helps build a strong sense of community within our classroom. Your contribution has directly supported my efforts to cultivate a love of reading in each of my students.

"Fish in a Tree," in particular, has resonated deeply with my fifth graders. The story of Ally's struggles and triumphs has opened up important conversations about learning differences, empathy, and the power of friendship. The diverse characters and relatable school setting have captivated even my most reluctant readers. Thanks to your kindness, my students are not only improving their reading skills but also developing a greater appreciation for the power of stories to connect us and teach us about ourselves and the world around us. Thank you again for your support.”
