  • Furniture for Differentiated Instruction

    Funded Dec 4, 2024

I cannot thank you enough for honoring my students and me and supporting my project. I was blown away to get the projects fulfilled so quickly! I am so excited to receive the table and cart--they will really make a difference in how efficiently I can meet students' needs by working in small groups. I have wanted a kidney table like this in my middle school classroom for years!

I appreciate you, and your generosity is so moving.”

    With gratitude,

  • Foster Reading Development for Our Multilingual Learners

    Funded Dec 3, 2024

Thank you so much for supporting my classroom. I feel so blessed that people honored me and my students with their donations. I was blown away to have my projects filled so quickly! My students will be thrilled to use the bilingual books, and the tools included in this project go a long way toward helping me improve how I can meet students' needs to learn English! You have made a difference for us! I appreciate your donation more than I can say!”

  • Powerful Stories to Teach Tolerance and Understanding

    Funded Nov 5, 2019

We cannot thank you enough for your contribution to our class. The students were immersed in wonderful, current, relevant books that opened their eyes to children around the world. They were able to do non-fiction research related to these books and were inspired by the characters and their determination. The became more empathetic towards refugees and any incoming students into their own schools as they put themselves into the shoes of their characters and of real people they read about in non-fiction articles about refugees.

Thank you for providing books that helped to broaden my students horizons!”

  • Hook a Reader, Change a Life

    Funded Oct 16, 2019

I cannot thank you enough for the generosity which has so impacted our classroom and our year. We know, as educators, how important it is that students find books that they can get excited about. Engagement is the first ingredient required for learning. The books you have gift to our class have definitely engaged and excited readers.

In my classroom, there is great emphasis put on the thinking strategies that readers use. As students are taught these strategies, it is vital that they apply them to a variety of books. Without a class library this is an impossible tasks. Additionally, since I teach three grades and within those grades students read at a variety of levels, students need to be able to find books that match their interest at their level. You have helped make this easier through providing us with such a variety of current titles.

So far, as you can see in the images, I have these books set aside in bins. This is for two reasons: One, so that the new titles are showcased and the students know where to go to find the latest and greatest. Two, so that I can help steer students to books close to their level. (The books are grouped by level in this case). Through book talks and showcasing these titles, the books have been snatched up and devoured! Many of the favorite titles had a waiting list for a while, and especially in one of my reading support classes, each student went home with a book they were excited about to read over winter break.

Your gift is already making a difference!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Eastman

  • Organizing for Success in Literacy and Life

    Funded Aug 9, 2018

I wanted to thank you for your donation to my classroom. It has truly made an impact on my daily teaching. I am working to implement several programs to meet the diverse needs of my students. I teach five different classes a day--there is a lot of planning that goes into those classes. Within these classes, I need to work with students on their individual needs one-on-one and in small group. Additionally, I am assessing several students a day from across the school to help find their reading level so we can qualify students who need reading support.

Your donation has allowed me to create a very efficient work corner; everything I need is at the ready, so that I can meet students reading needs and coach them effectively.

    Thank you again!

    Sincerely,

    Erika Eastman”

    With gratitude,

  • Moving Towards Engagement and Success

    Funded Oct 30, 2017

We have received the last of our items, and they are being put to good use on a daily basis by all of the classes that share room C101! Students have been working collaboratively in book groups and on projects, and the variety of seating allows for them to become absorbed in their work in more comfortable ways. As you can see in the pictures, students can circle up on the floor using the cushions, stools or bean bag chairs. The students are so excited to use all of new items, we are sharing and rotating them daily. The standing desks have been quite popular as they offer students an option besides sitting and are also large enough that they can accommodate a partnership, so students can work together standing up as well.

Thank you so much for your generosity! Your donation has helped to make our classroom dynamic and engaging. Students are able to work towards their 21st Century learning goals in 21st Century seating!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Eastman

What we know about the middle school student is that he/she often learns best when their learning style can be accommodated within the classroom. Rarely does this age child conform to the typical “one size fits all” classroom chair! If we are able to validate the child’s natural inclination to move by offering more flexible seating choices, experience has shown that it increases students’ absorption in their work. Currently, the traditional seating I have in my classroom does not provide opportunities for flexibility. I have students who are extremely exited about the prospect of a standing desk, because they know that if they can stand while they listen and work, they will become better students. In my reading classes, students are craving a place to curl up on the floor as they become enmeshed in their reading, but, as of now, I don't have any cushions or places to help make this an inviting option. I have worked hard to develop and grow a library full of books that students will enjoy, but my library is not complete or totally inviting without the comfort of floor cushions and a bean bag chair or two. Additionally, since my students move around the room to work in groups or partners, they now use inexpensive stools which can be moved around the room easily. These have worked so well, I even use them myself when conferring and helping students one-on-one and in small groups. However, these stools now need to be replaced and augmented due to their constant use. Please help us create a classroom environment that increases student engagement through flexible work station choices.
